I never understood the "hate" for Zero. Aside from the character swapping it was just more of Resident Evil REmake. And that's always a good thing right?

People who think REmake is too recent probably still think like the 1980s was 20 years ago.
I think the time is right for a new style of remake. Yes, REmake is goated and it got a good HD remaster that's available to this day, but it's also 23 years old.
To put it into some perspective, there was only a 6 year gap between the original RE and REmake.

it was a casual filter, but tbh the dropping items mechanic causes headaches the further you go into the game. Having to go back to the start of the game to grab an item you havent used in 5 hours was quite asinine.

Doesn’t the mean REremake instead? Looks like the RE teams wants to convert all the classic games to the REmake2 format. I wonder if Zero or even 5/6 will be in the works.
The REmake is the best out of all the tank controlled REgames period. You can’t really compare it to the modern RE2 as they’re vastly different experiences.

Yeah those are easily the best 2 in the series. I had lots of fun with both the remake and OG version and still wouldn’t mind more remakes of them if they ever do it again.
I’ll add RE3 to yet another remake too since I believe that has the most potential if done correctly.

That would be great, just combine the two and change the story to fit it all in one big game. Call this remake Resident Evil Origin. Billy could be scrapped or escapes or dies early on and Rebecca will have some scenes where she actually meets Jill and Barry. The ending will have Rebecca, Chris, Jill, and Barry together at the chopper.
This game would be as long as RE4 Remake. Except it’ll be in the gameplay style of RE2 R. It’ll be the best RE game ever.

They need to remade 5 and 6 completely from scratch and as a 100% new games not related at all to anything they did before (except maybe some characters they need to bring back).
Zero... could be remade to show what happened before the first game in much greater detail, I think it also needs to be completely remade from scratch.

With a Zero + 1 that ties all together would be nuts! They could fix the story and make it canon, as there are events that are shaky or contradictory.

I felt kind of like the whole narrative for Zero just about could have disappeared and I would have felt fine about that. I think it's questionable at best - and Rebecca being the star is weird, if only because in RE she doesn't really seem like she just went through a day or night of hell hours before. Plus the whole opera guy, etc.. just not a fan. I like the game itself, though.
