Rumor: Final Fantasy 7 remake will come to Xbox in 2025 and rebirth in 2026

After replaying (and loving) FF VIII recently, I am now playing FF VII for the first time. And I am absolutely baffled at how this game got this reputation. It has to be the most overrated JRPG ever. It is mediocre beyond belief, has an absolutely absurd story and successions of places you visit, combat is as brain dead as it gets, and it is filled with the worst mini-games I have ever seen.

Clearly, this was baby's first JRPG for a ton of people. FF VIII simply destroys it on every aspect, while being itself simply a good game (with many issues), not even great.

Seeing how the story unfolds in FF VII, I bet that a ton of situations must feel incredibly weird and ridiculous in a more realistic remake.
FFVIII is still my fave, I hope they do a full on remake rather than just the remaster.

Square just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase FF VII Remake Part 3 for either system, nor will they purchase any of Square's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Square has alienated an entire market with this move.

Square, publicly apologize and cancel FF VII Remake/Rebirth for Xbox or you can kiss your business goodbye.

The day may come when this will be old and unfunny....but it is not today.

To the 7 of you who will buy the game.

And people will blame Xbox users when it sells poorly when in reality they are years late ports of meh games.

Bumbletuna : "Hellblade 2 is my GOTY, 9/10"

Also Bumbletuna : " FF remakes are meh"

This is the same user calling others "warriors" and "fanboys", the joke writes itself.

Opinions are opinions but sometimes, it's painfully obvious when people take sides.

Man, videogames are not serious business but, some self awareness would actually do you some good...

PS: forgot to mention the usual persecution complex

Even music is seriously disappointing, quality is incredibly bad and only a few themes stick out, with many being forgettable, and some unbearable.

Enjoy your poor taste in life.

Too late the game won't sell bot because there are no Xbox players interested but because it will arrive years later at full price, an most people has already played them....

I always felt that way at the time. I was playing Mario 64 first that gen and FFVII felt like a really ugly downgrade from Chrono Trigger and FFVI.

I had given up any hope and expected it until the trilogy was complete, so this would be nice. Hopefully SE has the sense of putting a respectable price tag on it, it being a older game. Like Death Stranding at 40 euros or so. But I doubt it, it's SE.

I also read a rumor about 16 being a shadow drop like DS was.

I really hope its truth. Xbox fans can have more games, and we'll see here on GAF more tears. Its a win-win.

Who exactly is crying about a third-party game going to Xbox several years later?

I'm guessing no one is crying about all Xbox first-party games going to PlayStation?

I can't wait to hear about how the game failed to meet expectations on Xbox. Begs the question, did they accept a big cheque from Microsoft to put it on gameass? Because honestly, I don't see it selling well being so late to the party. The audience is small, just look at Marvel 10 to 1 revenue.

Good. We need more people playing these games to have even more people hating the greed and bad design of those games.

I don’t get the big break there. SE should just release the dual pack and both games. They are probably trying to time it so people jump on first game, finish and bam, second game is there a year later.

But let’s be serious, the Venn diagram intersection of FFVII/JRPG fans who don’t have either a PS console or a PC got to be pretty small.

SE should just release both to maximize the hype and optimize marketing budget.

”This is an Xbox”, remember? Get with the times, Remake has already been out for years on PC, I’m playing through it right now to be ready for Rebirth which comes out in days.
