Rumor: Xbox 3 = 6-core CPU, 2GB of DDR3 Main RAM, 2 AMD GPUs w/ Unknown VRAM, At CES

You really only need add tuner. On existing models that could be accomplished with a usb dongle. A QAM tuner and whatever is necessary to decrypt the signal isn't very power hungry in comparison to the hard drive and all the video processing which the xbox is already capable of.

for the xbox to really function like a DVR, they would need to find a way to bootup much quicker. set-top boxes are almost instant on. they would also need to find a way for it to record when "turned off".

You mean like this:

I think DVR has a limited reach outside of the US.
In France, most channels can be accessed directly with internet and having such a feature would be overkill for me.

ALSO, what about controllers!!! is there anyhing new and reliable that can be done to improve "classic" controllers. Going next-gen I would like to have refined rumbling and a touch back panel could help in the menus too or act as an easy button (doubtfull seeing how shit went with the gamecube pad), they may also get rid of the d-pad and offer something in its place like something touch sensitive for slickness (but no screen) and also improved analogs for very precise controls (mostly tweaking them to perfection, and finding the best possible material for them and design)

It's not like MS cares about Europe anyway. ;)

That aside, it's the same with regard to internet TV in the UK, and you can pry my TIVO out of my cold dead hands.

Truth is the masses in France still consider PS3 to be "la console" but inferior ports from 2 years ago have burned a lot of serious french gamers who only get exclusives on it now.

And yep, internet TV is a no brainer seeing what's happening with the new dashboard.
Getting a feeling MS might dare to launch its own Roku/TIVO in the US in the form of KinectTV.

lol, patent was filed in 2007 and is for the 360 but I guess you gotta keep on throwing shit against the wall hoping people get a whiff.

Starting in the spring the 360 can start acting as a type of cable box for customers in France

kinect is fully deployed on Windows 8)

want to start up notepad.exe? oh sure that's easy, just get up and do a gay ass-dance and it launches right up. oh and it costs 800 "MS points" every time you choose to click the mouse instead of gesticulating like a downs syndrome retard.

wow, I can't wait.

What the hell is wrong with you?
This is pretty offensive.

Firstly derogatory to homosexuals, then the last sentence just confirms that you are the bottom barrel scum of society.

Wow. Nice knowing you bro. Have a nice retirement in Bansville.

Edit: Oh and don't let the door hit you on the way out. I do hate cleaning smudges off the window.

I can't tell if this is a genuine post or deliberate account suicide.

Edit: That was quick.

I hope it will play all my 360 games with better framerate and higher resolution.

Gears 3 and GTA V in 1080p at 60fps please. Is it possible ?

plausible for GTAV they have to sell 2 big expansions in the years after the release with San Fierro and Las Venturas.

M$ won't be at CES 2013, E3 2013 it's too late to announce it.

Probably they will tease something at CES and/or GDC 2012 (online stuff) and they'll show the console at E3.

Release between fall 2012 (but halo4??) and spring 2013.

They aren't going to be at CES 2013 because they want to start doing their own shit and not adhere to fixed conference schedules which makes your reasoning on the date moot.

Sometimes it's hard to work out why a poster was banned.

Not this time.

Who the fuck uses notepad in this day and age? Textpad for life yo!

If Microsoft have any sense (and I think they do) they wont think about hardware PVR features in the new machine. Sony's big mistake with the PS3 was trying to shove too much into it.

That pushed the cost of making it up, as well as the cost of selling and then cost them goodwill from customers when they started making revisions to cut the unneccessary stuff out.

How would PVR features run up the cost? Outside of a large hard drive, which are dirt cheap nowadays, the only thing to add is software. Things would be different if they added dedicated tuner cards but that is surely not in the cards.

Whatever they do, I've learned my lesson...never buy launch hardware again. :(

LoL at the banning. Hope you enjoy your infinite lurking days.

As for the video, it's kinda of in line with what I expect once next-gen is full and operationnal and engines are optimised for consoles. This at launch is a Killzone joke.

TV within XBOX works through internet access, no "cable" here. Anyway tech is moving TV away from the cable.

Also, what kind of network hardware should next-gen provide out of the box, so that when fiberDSL is commonly accessed, it doesn't need a revision to provide stuff like streaming, or cloud?

Seing how Apple is trending the tech world, I think it's safe to assume no constructor wants to bloat its system with a chip or a function that's not necessary or half-baked.

That's the way it works everywhere with the 360 where there is tv options available, US, UK, France, Canada(anyone know if there are more places?)

they could just support a simple accessory like Torne or PlayTV for PS3, connected via USB. Only thing you need is the software to support it built in, and then have different accessories for OTA tuner, cable etc.

AMD is calling their APUs "Fusion", and I speculated last year with BBoyDubC's posts that something like Fusion Trinity (based on bulldozer) would go into the Xbox. Then HardForum threw the "well, it will either be bulldozer based or it will feature the same Cell CPU" thing into the mix, from what I recall. "Kinect Fusion" <--- sounds right.

ex-Rare dudes released a game called Fusion: Genesis.

On the other hand, I can also confirm the story of the AMD employee who posted on GAF that he was working on a new chip design for an unannounced next-gen console shipping fall 2012. Not to mention that the timing of the new Ubisoft leak comes right after the story Edge ran about Ubisoft and EA getting their target-spec PC boxes replaced last month by actual Xbox NextGen prototypes:
http://www.next-gen.biz/news/next-generation-arrive-2012

I've still only seen the PS4 linked to an AMD CPU. I'm going with that being for PS4 not Xbox3.

Yes.

I'd rather talk about possible next-gen "classic" (good ;-) controllers!

But it was a for a system targetting a fall 2012 release and no way PS4 is hitting fall 2012.

No way MS is gonna repeat 360 history. They may have chose to lock the hardware for end of 2012 and focus on software with production ready hardware for a few months, then launch their marketing and steal Christmas season 2013.
I think they can keep their customers away from WiiU with believable tech demos and credible launch dates for next-gen games for a year.
