Rumour: MS approach Valve for buyout $16b offer

Just seen on my feeds

Edit: I saw this reposted by someone (linneman?) who reposted/retweeted it - which I thought lent some form of legitimacy. The value seems very low, Gaben is known to have said "no fuckin way" in the past etc etc.

Saw the same tweet just moments go. Hope it's just one of those fake rumors.

Edit: Looked through the replies to see if he dropped any sources for his claim, but it looks like it's just another one of those 'trust me bro' posts.

Yeah... Hopefully made up.

I'd argue that a valve take over by MS is far more in need of being blocked by regulators than Acti ever was.

Gabe would never take it. Didn't a story like this already come out that Valve was approached before and they said "not interested"?

Absolutely no source.

That said, I predict that Microsoft will buy out Discord in the next 5 years and render it a corpse like they did with Skype.

Oh I can almost guarantee you that it's real because Microsoft is full of retards that think you can just buy everything. Hell they tried to buy Nintendo as well.

Luckily I can't see Valve ever being bought, but if they did it would mean the end of PC gaming for me. I don't want Microsoft anywhere near Steam outside of releasing their games there.

Fake news most likely. Acquisition stuff never leaks.

If true I hope Gabe stipulates that Phil has to personally scrape the barnacles off his boat.

There's no way this is true. Given the fact that this offer is well short of what I imagine Valve to be worth. Honestly though, how would this even get anywhere with the regulators after the last debacle?

Fake rumour as thats just Valves market value i believe, and as a private company MS would probably have to offer 5 times that for Gabe to even turn his head a little.

So MS is trying to piss off the PC gamers now? That's one way of getting Steam on your box I suppose and/or just rebrand Steam Deck for an MS handheld

Likely fake. That valuation seems low, and MS went through a lot of after the ActiBlizz thing, don't think they can afford the inevitable regulatory scrutiny of a deal like this.

Of course this is true, I mentioned this before, the only question is will Gabe sell. Fits in with rumors of potential Steam integration on next gen xbox as well.

Isn't the source for this kinda dodgy? And by which I mean it seems to be a complete Twitter nobody?

Also there's no way ABK would be 70bn and Steam would be 16bn.
