September 22, 2006 - Helmer Brett Ratner is getting geared up for Rush Hour 3. The X-Men: The Last Stand director appears to be lining up more cast members for the third installment in the action-comedy franchise which stars Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan.

This time the action will take place in Paris where the duo goes up against a wing of the Chinese organized crime family, the Triads. USA Today recently spoke to Ratner who explained, "Jackie was a fish out of water (in L.A), then Chris was one in the second movie (in Hong Kong). Now they are both fish out of water."

Ratner revealed in the chat that Japanese-born actor Hiroyuki Sanada will play the bad guy in the film."He's a brilliant actor with a martial arts background who has done some incredible films," Ratner says. Sanada's filmography includes The White Countess, The Last Samurai, Ringu and Ringu 2.

Roselyn Sanchez is attached to the project and actors Max Von Sydow and Roman Polanski are rumored to be linked as well. There's also been some buzz that Jean-Claude Van Damme might appear in the flick.

Rush Hour 3 is tentatively set for an August 2007 release.

Whoa, Sanada is the guy from Ninja in the Dragon's Den?? He was crazy in that movie, hopefully he can still fight. Anyone remember the stilt battle?

Of course he can still fight, he's Sonny Chiba's protege. He did some great swordwork in Twilight Samurai.

I thought they were flying to New York?!

"I've always wanted to go to Madison Square Garden...see the Knicks."

Of course they're so shit these days it's understandable that they'd wanna change that travel plan.

So he fulfill's the John Lone and Tom Wilkenson role of "being way too good to be in a Rush Hour movie and not doing terribly much."

RUSH HOUR 4: "let's put them in the pacific ocean! LOL!" -ratner

How is Jackie a fish out of water if he's facing triads? Why not have the Japanese dude be Yakuza and go to Tokyo (where they learn the art of drifting from Bow Wow, then hit Paris for big race vs. Van Damme).

hmm... why not Tokyo if the villain is Japanese? Or get the District B13 guys if it's in Paris? There better be plenty of Parkour too, that would be right up Jackie Chan's alley.

Carter: "Lee, remember when we went to that Knicks game and you kicked referee's head off for making a bad call? Well why don't you think of something along those lines for the bad guys and get us hell out of here MAN!!"
