Contestants will each sign a waiver acknowledging that they might be raped or killed but the rules also state that police are free to arrest anyone who commits a crime on the show. “You must understand that the police will come and take you away,” the rules state. “We are on the territory of Russia, and obey the laws of the Russian Federation.”
Sounds like they're trying to encourage people signing up to rape and murder on the show while covering their own ass by admitting it's still illegal in Russia.

In any other country this would have never been allowed, but I guess Russia really is a modern wild west. The only thing missing is a Thunderdome.

So basically they have the same laws..but if someone is spotted being raped or murdered by the cameras/crew, they'll just film it and wait for the contestants to be arrested after the show is done?

Fucked up.

If you do it where the cameras can't see you... But I'm assuming police will still investigate it as an actual crime scene and if your stupid enough to go on this show youre stupid enough to leave evidence.
Also, the contestants have their own cameras. And if this is streamed live that is probably something that is constantly on. So you'll be recording yourself murdering someone.

Hopefully they are more clear to the contestants about the rules. "You can kill but you'll be arrested" is just regular life.

They're probably hoping for a "but I thought I could kill and rape" misunderstanding.

"you can do all these awful things that you could also do not on the show, and will be arrested just the same"

"but we will keep the cameras rolling, so please go ahead"

So does the show simply expect the contestants to die of exposure to the elements? It would be interesting if the last contestant standing doesn't violate any of the rules. Just find a corner of the wilderness to hunker down and wait for everyone to go 'Lord of the Flies' on each other.

Steal someone elses camera. But don't get caught in film stealing their camera. You'll probably have to use a second operators camera while you steal the first one.

How is different from any reality show? Or real life for that matter? Yes anyone could rape or murder someone, but they will be punished if caught. Even if these people had sick desire to do these things, going on on a reality show where your every movement will be tracked seems like the worst place to commit such crimes.

Seems like a PR stunt. Tune in someone may even get murdered!!!!

This is like that GTA3 commercial "Liberty City Survivor"

Male Voice: "Tonight...the TV event that will make history...Liberty City
Survivor! This takes reality TV to a whole new level! We'll take
20 recently paroled guys, equip them with grenade launchers and
flamethrowers...and let them hunt each other down!! It's the
reality show where you...just might be...part of the action!!"
Man: "I was grabbing a sandwich in the Happy Blimp, and all-of-a-sudden
these guys crashed through the window and started shooting at each
other! I was so excited, I didn't even notice I'd been hit! After
that, I was hooked on Liberty City Survivor! I watch it every day
in the hospital!"
Male Voice: "The game doesn't end until there's only one man left
standing!! Tune in nightly, or watch the 24hour live
webcast!......Liberty City Survivor!!......Natural selection...has
come home!!.......<quiet speech> Sponsored by AmmuNation. Please
remember to put litter in it's place.<end quiet speech>"

R* were always ahead of their time.

I remember reading about a bunch of prisoners being dropped off on an isolated island by the Siberian coast during the Soviet era, as an "experiment". When they came back to check how things had gone, the survivors had turned to cannibalism.

Sounds terrible, but how is this different from every day life? You can murder and rape, but you will be arrested.

I guess the sick part is the show is encouraging it.

hey if this is as crazy as it sounds, it'll definitively be a worldwide success and people from all nations will be clamouring to join, hell if it becomes popular enough, nations could elect their own champions hunger-games style

thats assuming this is real ofc

Yeah this doesn't make any sense. So you can do it, but you'll receive the same punishment if you did it anywhere.

Ok.

Just sounds like they're saying, "We will not be legally obligated to stop you from murdering each other, so if it starts to happen don't expect a producer to save you when they could film it and profit instead." (Assuming it's even real, etc.)

But anyway, Series 7 was my first thought.
Not a great movie at all, but parts are funny.

I feel like they need Hunters to go and actively try to kill them like in The Running Man.

Other than that, real life Battle Royale sounds great.

what if they make all the contestants horrible death row murderers and life imprisonment motherfuckers?

nah that still sounds barbaric and likely to lead to violence but certainly better than regular human beings on this

we can go full bloodsport which is probably what most people want to see, i'm sure the demographic for horrible murder fighting is higher than horrible rape

man they could have like a bunch of aryan brotherhood types and send them against russian death row people and advertise it "FASCISM VS COMMUNISM: THE FINAL BATTLE" and i can totally see the organisers making the russians outnumber the fascists 100 to 1 or something so its realistic

Weird shit goes down in Siberia. Seems like every documentary I see on Siberia shows the ugliest looking men who basically live in frozen huts with nothing but a bottle vodka and their super hot looking girlfriend/wife. Like, I feel bad for the gorgeous Siberian women there who have to settle for those wretched alcoholic men

So, uh, it's basically assumed that 29 people have to die for the winner to win, right? Or am I missing something.
the real winner is the one who already knows how to live in siberia, so they just camp out and wait for everyone else to starve or kill each other

“Each contestant gives consent that they could be maimed, even killed,” reads an advert. “2000 cameras, 900 hectares and 30 lives. Everything is allowed. Fighting, alcohol, murder, rape, smoking, anything.”

Willing participants need to be 18 and “mentally sane” to compete.

These two things don't seem like they can go together.
