Still seeing performance problems on a 7900x+4090 PC after the patch. 3 crashes today as well.
Hoping they keep on working on it…

Other than that, the only real complaint I have is that there are no character stats. This is totally a RPG and then I want stats and levels.

Still, GOTY.

The two patches to date haven't actually addressed any of the major performance issues - they only stated they addressed memory leaks. I wouldn't go into Patch 1.0.2 expecting major performance improvements. With that said, GSC have said they're working on major fixes to overall performance, AI, and their A-Life system - but these will take much longer than the crashes, bug fixes, and re-balances they're putting out now. If the game isn't performing and it's ruining your experience, I'd recommend stepping away and coming back once they've had time to address those kinds of issues.

So how many of us are still using Skif's 9mm or did you switch to the .45 ACP?
I did, but only because I'm using Buket gun as it uses 9x18mm ammo and weights 1.6kg. With a laser sight it's awesome smg. Still using a modded valick lummoxs with the scope from the water tower in lesser zone. I figured I don't want to be using the same bullets.

Although I did just get a 6 chambered pump shotty and a few 5.45x45mm guns but they weigh 4g each, with the weight limit and selling guns i need to be caring less not more.

Really hoping artifacts are more common later as I haven't found shit. Unlike old stalker where they were everywhere. Is there a trick to finding artifacts? When I pull out my antenna detector with the numbers and sound it sometimes goes up to 99 but I see nothing.

The artifacts are all over places surrounded by alot of anomalies. When you're running around keep your scanner out. I've found a lot.

I've seen on youtube there's one artifact called Weird Water, that gives you 40+ inventory and make all other artifacts don't have rads, sounds amazing, only issue it's tough as fuck to get apparently.. need specific time towards night, and a hard area, might try to get it tomorrow, downside it make you always drunk lol.

Watching the ending of the game and I don't know why they opted to use a video file. The stuttering is as bad, if not worse, than the stuttering for video files in the Until Dawn remake.

So that's 1 of 4 (?) endings done. Will post some impressions and thoughts later. Just absorbed in the ending at the moment.

Dude, performance in all cutscenes (except the very first one) I've seen so far is absolutely abysmal! Like, there's one fuckin' dude standing on the crane and no one else around, why performance is so goddamn atrocious? Or during a cut-scene with the general and a suit in a room with 4 people? WTF?! And I haven't even mentioned that during the crane cutscene, the game literally falls apart and assembles itself in the background with all sorts of visual glitches. Cyberpunk in comparison was a sublime port on PC in 2020. And why the fuck you you use one of the most terrible UE5 version in existance with absolutely terrible CPU performance, barely working nanite, insane pop-in, DXR level of GI, reflections and shadows...? Ughhhhhhhh.

Like, all these issues aside, the game is incredible and all what's in it in terms of core gameplay, FPS mechanics, quests, cut-scene production, art and level design, voice work (Im playing with original Ukrainian VA), exploration, atmosphere and open world, but cuz of the terrible performance and UE5.1, it's almost brings the whole game down. The only way they can fix things is to update UE5 to the latest version and work closely with Epic to make it happen somehow, cuz they're not going to fix anything if they'll be using 5.1, it's just not gonna happen, not to mention A-Life 2.0 - forget it.

The game just swapped my spas12 with a sniper that i didn't even pick up, what the fuck ? And it was during a battle !

Yeah it's one of the issues that hasn't been fixed in the patch, randomly sometimes the game just drops extra weapons in your inventory. There is no rhyme or reason why and when it might happen, but in my entire time with the game it happened 4, 5 times maybe.

Pretty much all the times I remember, it was red durability sniper rifles, which I would just immediately drop, as you can't even sell those.

Yes exactly ! Happened 3 times already and it was always a shitty sniper 💩

Could you elaborate ?
They are fixing main mission bugs in every patch. I had problems with side missions so I'm scared.

Run with detector open, when it shows numbers and makes sound, search for artifacts around(especially near big anomalies). 99 means you are far from it, it goes to zero when you near it, than it pops out of nowhere.

I've played like 10-20 hours(according to game) but it shows 30-40 hours on app. Probably counting idle hours or broken, or ingame counter broken.

Yeah, I noticed that the game fails to close properly sometimes and just runs in the background unless you force close it through Task Manager. My timer is 60 hours but my in-game save is only 21.

I've seen plenty of bugs, most of them related to visuals though, nothing major or gamebreaking, but I have this annoying story related marker on the map that tells me to hide from emmisions which is long gone and I can't remove it.

MMuBZgH.jpeg

Btw, go download these mods:

Two of them will dramatically improve combat experience, the other will make days longer and the last one will improve LODs a lot, there'll be some pop-in here and there but in comparison to vanilla it's a night and day difference.

P.S. The second patch is out - https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1643320/view/4455844537830474746

It’s okay using frame generation, I just don’t think I should have dips down into 40s without it on this PC. But I’m enjoying it a ton. it’s still the year best for me even with issues, no stepping away here.

Waiting for Xbox mods, but may dive in anyway tomorrow.

The day/night cycle mod is crazy. There's a choice for real time (1 min real life = 1 min game time). So during the night cycles, you might be playing in the dark for 8 hours straight.

Do these mods also work with the game pass version specifically Better gunfights?

While not perfectly accurate I do have 2 saves going with 72 and 24 hours of progress on each. Game is sucking all of my time away.

I'll just go have a look at that over there...

If only I knew. I guess just put the mods into the mod folder and see what happens. The easiest to test would be the Ledge Grabbing mod.

If we're talking for real, the game should've been delayed to 2026, just like CP2077 to 2022 at least. The amount of issues is just too numerous for the game to be released so early. Clearly there wasn't much testing being done (if any at all) if you need console commands to finish quests, progress some dialogues and finish the main story. They should start with switching to UE5.4 internally and work from there.

Agent_4Seven

Good, the game needs at least an A-Life system working because that was promised by the developers so they better hurry the fuck up to bring it
Impossible on UE5.1 which has terrible CPU performance issues, they need to first update the game to UE5.4, there's no other way to add / implement A-Life 2.0 without breaking the game.

Just look at this nonsense for example:

DSPNRyU.jpeg

kjpSUHB.jpeg

6kS6eDF.jpeg

chgZFgk.jpeg

I've 2 GBs of VRAM and 10GBs of RAM left, GPU is barely doing anything. What the hell is this? When I turn the other way performance is completely fine along with CPU utilization. Now, imagine what A-Life 2.0 will do to the game and to CPUs on UE5.1, it'll be completely unplayable and broken.

Unreal Engine was a mistake
I haven't watched "Making of" video yet and maybe they already explained everything there. There was X-Ray 2 Engine at one point, but for some reason unknown to mankind they switched to one of the worst versions of UE5. I just can't see how they'll fix all performance issues without updating to UE5.4 which solved most of the issues 5.1 had.

They shot themselves in the foot here, hopefully they're realize what must be done and fast.

Unreal Engine was a mistake
This is one of the reasons why I worry about mods and especially global mods for this game. Due to the use of Unreal 5, the hands of modders will be very much constrained, in terms of working with hardware (it makes no sense to make a global mod that will normally work only on top hardware and even that is not a fact), so there are at risk that for Unreal 5, this game in terms of modifications may not reach the level of the original game. Which, even though it's an old, clumsy engine that's held together only by super glue and duct tape, theoretically, due to its unpretentiousness, you can do whatever you want with the game. That's why we now see an update of graphic mods with new shaders written for new hardware.

Had a good quest yesterday on the 2 rival ships.. make sure to do both of the Shevchenko and Sultansk quests, then you'll get an extra mission on the Sultansk.
The lady bartender wants you to kill Sultan and Beard, didn't want to except the mission at first since i'm no cold blood killer! but said let's try it maybe there's other ways to complete the quest, and yeah i ended up killing the sniper and getting a cool weapon but betrayed the bartender and saved the 2 ship owners, was cool.

It looks like this memory liked is not really fixed, still happens after longer sessions and multiple save loads.

Anyway all of the sudden I got some serious Hidden and Dangerous vibes too, god I'd love if they brought back that series in a similar way. Might wanna check out what are the options for H&D2 regarding resolutions and such, kinda wanna replay it now next year.

I bet most of those bugs were already filed. The Leads decide to fix them at a later Title Update.
Ship it fix it later indeed 😊
Thats the digital world for ya.

But considering gaming is so big and growing, it shows the masses are fine with it. So devs keep doing ti. It's like discs vs digital. There was a big fight in 2013/14 when Xbox/PS4 were still mostly disc sales and people complaining about always online and it;s such a waste of time and mney to go digital.

Well, most console gamers are digital now. And even console makers are making digital only systems. Its now accepted. So are $70 games. And so are tons of mtx and GAAS gaming.

As I said in the past, if game companies stick to their push long enough gamers accept. The only thing that hasnt been accepted yet is some game companies pushing NFTs. I dont think that ever caught on. Not even close.

Can't wait to get to Pripyat, I hope it's like in the series, lot of buildings and such, most of the maps so far are more nature based, I'm now stopped progressing the main quests and doing stashs and side quests, i want to clear all the map.

CPU Performance note: the first town area is a CPU murderer. I got a massive uplift going from a 5600x to a 5700x3d, but it still drops into the high 40s briefly when entering that town if you don’t use frame generation. And with frame generation it can hang out around 60 at times.

And that CPU is STILL the bottleneck in this scene even with a humble 4060ti 16gb driving a 1440p output with frame generation on. It’s getting down into the 85% usage range there.

12 hours in, finally ran into my first major bug. Cleared a factory as part of a quest, left to sell loot, came back to pick up what was left and some bandits came in. Mopped them up easily, and some boars spawned in seemingly out of nowhere. Cleaned them out, and more bandits spawned in out of nowhere. Mopped them up, and another wave of boars. Picked up what I could and high tailed out of there. Not a great experience, but not a deal breaker.

At this point, even with its terrible performance and bugs like the above, this is definitely my game of the year. I was looking forward to it all year long, and they absolutely delivered. STALKER 2 has some the best atmosphere in any game. Period. And the fantasy of exploring, looting and surviving is presented extremely well. This is the kind of game I'll finish, and then mod the shit out of and replay it all over again. Sitting at work, I just wanna finish so I can play more STALKER.

This loop of enemies happened to me form the start, not always there, can pass several hours without it, but yesterday it happened again, first bandits.. then again bandits then dogs and to top it up some fresh bandits, in this case i reloaded a save a few minutes before and ran away, probably when you see wave after wave it's best to keep going, what an haunted game lol.

I had a similar bug where a never ending pack of dogs would spawn, it was bizarre and in hindsight I should’ve reloaded a save because it tanked my ammo and gear durability.

Yeah i think i'm gonna shelf the game until they fix a-life and the enemy spawn.

The game feels both dead and barren when you explore the off-beaten path and artifically chaotic when you reach any point of interest at the same time, it's hard to describe.
