Digital Foundry: Gears of War Reloaded - DF Review - PS5/PS5 Pro/Xbox Series X|S/PC - The New Ultimate Edition?

FSR4 is their FIRST Ai reconstruction tech, same as PSSR for Sony. FSR4 is great while PSSR has issues.

Yep, DLSS 1 and DLSS 2 are only connected by name.
Why you are so obtuse. FSR4 uses also algorithms of the previous iteration, of course it's better, it's more experienced lol.

Been like this all gen. Games you think should run so much better but don't. There has been some sort of bottleneck this gen with these consoles. Not even the Pro can do native 4k? I mean come on ...16 tf console can't get a game that was 1080p/30 on xbox one s to 4k/60 ...
So you're still complaining even about good pro upgrades. Now the goalpost has been shifted to native 4k apparently. You complain when there is no PSSR. You complain when there is PSSR. You truly are beyond anyone's help.

If the Deck can run locked 60 than on Desktops should be great.

It seems to be an incredibly well optimized game across the board on all platforms. Even Series S gets a functionally well 120hz mode.

But then again, it is a remaster of a 10 year old game. I'm glad the devs didn't shit the bed during the conversion.

Still, current gen how times more powerful than anemic Xbox one hardware? 8x,10x?

I get what you mean, seems very barebones on paper, but it's a pretty decent improvement.

Went from 1080p/30 to 1440p/60 (or 1080p/120, a 4x perf boost) with FSR3 instead of FXAA, a 70% increase in resolution with added things like better effects, textures etc.

I was hoping for full ue4 or 5 remake remaster of first 3 games, not remaster of remaster 10 years after, imo but for newbyes of gow maybe is not bad way to introduce yourself to franchise

played a bit of this remaster of a remaster of a 20 year old game. And that's exactly what this plays like- a 20 year old game with a new coat of paint slapped on. Not that gears 1 is bad but it's been surpassed in many ways. Don't really see the point of this

The rain looks and feels like a downgrade.

I always liked that chapter in OG Gears cause it basically gave the game a survival-horror style pivot in visuals. Very atmospheric for its time.

I was legit shocked when I saw that section of the video
Gears 2 is the only game I played from the franchise but I'm surprised how much the devs completely misinterpret and "re-imagined" these levels form the original

The mood is completely different both in the rain level and in the flying bats sequence or whatever those things are called.
Yeah everything is 4K great... might as well stick a Diablo 3 style rainbow in there while you are at it and completely whiff on recreating the original atmosphere.

All this talk of ye ol' DLSS got me thinking back to the earliest days when Nvidia was showcasing it as an new AA technique (hence the name) I guess we got there in the end with the advent of DLAA :messenger_grinning_sweat:

As for this Gears reloaded, seems like a good pro patch for a change. A 1440p PSSR upscale in the 120Hz mode should look pretty crisp. Luckily got it free on PC anyway as I had the last remaster so we'll see how the old girl handles it (3090)
