I loved this game back in the day. Incredible music, art, and story. The gameplay was a little rough though. Probably my favorite 7/10 game for the PS1.

Should be great as long as they don't fuck up the artstyle nor cheap out on it's production.

Now Switch and Steam will have almost all of the SaGa games except Unlimited SaGa.

Update: I bought it. Hopefully the final boss doesn't punish you for grinding this time around lol. I locked myself out of beating the game back in the day.

Loved this game, those beautiful watercolors. Having said that, where the fuck are my Vagrant Story, Parasite Eve, FF Tactics and Xenogears remasters Square?

This game was gorgeous even on the PSX with .gif resolution.

It will be a awesome in 4k on a big screen.

Yeah what could Nintendo still show interesting for Switch at this point? I ain't gonna buy anything else on Switch if MP4 is on Switch.

FUCK :(
Guess I have to bite unless it gets annunced quickly on Switch 2

Steam page for the PC bros:

Looks cool but I dunno, might just play this on the PSX + CRT unless they really improve on a lot of stuff.

I respect people beating these games without a guide whatsoever. They don't make much sense and intentionally so. Though Frontier 2 was probably the most linear title they did. But the battle mechanics and economy are quite crazy.

I hated that boss. Even with killing a bunch of his mini bosses I couldn't kill him. I did 2 million extra damage over his highest possible HP max and he still wouldn't die. Had to end up using a game shark to beat him and see the ending. I was underleveled too when I fought him.

Bought on Steam. My ps1 copy is long gone.

Did you find out if they fixed that for this version?

Sorry, Fantasian end game is kicking my ass and I need to beat it before I start SF2R. I snooped around the internet and no one knows for sure yet if the Egg battle is adjusted, but given the QOL improvements, the new minigame that gives extra items, the new characters, and the new skill inheritance system, my guess is the remaster is a tad bit easier than the OG and they probably also adjusted the Egg. I'll report back if I hear otherwise.

Might pick this up down the line for some extra games to play on Switch 2. I remember in the original version I couldn't beat Wil's side of the story last boss kept rocking me. Gustave's side was tough especially that one battle you had to be perfect on but I managed to complete his side of the story.

Always found it funny how Squix always treats the Romancing / Saga series with more love than the FF series.

I was just about to come say a similar thing, I loved this game but at the final battle with Gustave I was fucked. No way to level, no way to fix my party… unbeatable.

As an update, I'm about halfway through the game. It seems longer than I remember. The difficulty has definitely been made easier and it helps to streamline things. I feel like the core issues with the battle system still remain; despite the improvements the weakest part of the game is still the gameplay, in particular the obtuse and unexplained combat mechanics.

This game makes Xenoblade 2's combat seem well explained and simple. The rest of the game is so compelling that I find myself just trying to run though the dungeons and combat as quickly as possible so I can get back to the good stuff.

The best part of this game, for me, was the OST. The OST was a great motivator to finish this game. I have it on PS1 and I hate it, lol. But I will play through it once in awhile for that Godly OST.

This or Romancing Saga 2?
Yes.

In reality, the answer lies in how nonlinear you want your games to be. Romancing SaGa 2 is crazy nonlinear and full of things to explore, SaGa Frontier 2 is super linear, tight, and focused.

Story: SaGa Frontier 2
Music: Tie? I love both.
Gameplay: Romancing SaGa 2
Graphics: Depends on your love of 2D vs 3D, I would pick SaGa Frontier 2.
Value: SF2 is maybe 30ish hours, RS2 is 40ish.
