Since Sahara opens today, and I couldnt find any other threads on it, Just wondered if anyone is interested in seeing it? I read the book ages ago, and love all the Clive Cussler/Dirk Pitt novels, so I am kinda anxious to see the movie....however since we all now most book to movie transformations to not turn out as well as we hope they can, I am a little worried that if this movie performs poorly we won't be able to see any more Dirk Pitt adventures. Any thoughts?

Also, what is that song called that they play in the Sahara trailer, I know I have heard it before but am drawing a blank?

:)

Saw Sin City last weekend and yes....

Sin City >>>>> Sahara (even though I havent seen it yet)

But since I wont be near a theatre this weekend, wont be seeing either.

Ok, I'm really bored and contemplating heading off to catch an afternoon screening of Sahara. Is it worth the $5? Keep in mind that I'm bored and I have already seen Sin City 3 times. Has anyone seen it?

So I wasted $15 so the wife and I could see this "film" yesterday. My god what a huge piece of crap.

Good:
Steve Zahn has a few funny lines
Penelope Cruz in a binkin

Bad:
Having to wait until the last scene to see Penelope Cruz in a bikini
Thre rest of the movie

To sum it up:
Stay home and watch Indiana Jones on DVD.

Overall I thought the movie was good. It was a fun teasure hunting movie, which we havn't had much of recently (Other than National Treasure, which I did think was better than Sahara). Had a few things that just went unanswered. I know this is normal in these types of movies, but this one jsut bothered me.

1: How did the civil war ironclad that ran off steam ever make it to africa from Virginia?

2: Why does Matthew McConaughey's character have like this super covert ops background? (they hinted at this lightly but never went more into it)

Those are answered in the book actually. All the Dirk Pitt books have a mystery like that ironclad in them. It is just part of the formula for the books.

I really loved his books when I was a teenager. Dont' like them as much anymore, but if you want good mindless fun they are a good read.
