I wonder if you guys managed to watch to the last season, which involved the three characters to the left (who are girls pretending to be boys in the show, that's why they gain boobies and hips when they transform). Hell, I wonder if US reached the lesbian duo at the upper right.

Yeah the show is pretty standard fare, but I was a sucker for Sentai-esque style of anime, and I thought Sailor Moon was pretty fine for what it was. The characters were pretty interesting (I pretty much like Mercury/Ami, but my favorite is the super-lesbian Uranus/Haruka), especially the ones from the later series.

My favorite arc/season is essentially Sailor Moon S. It introduced Uranus and Neptune whose methods were very unconventional for a sailor soldier, the whole plot is pretty much the darkest (it's very un-saccharine), and it has a great character interaction (for instance, Haruka teasing Usagi because she looks like a man by DATING her).

I watched the original Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon R, and I think I dropped it mid way through S, I really don't remember much from the series other than the characters (been over 10 years since I've watched it).

Aww, S is the best! Never really liked Super S (too much focus on Chibiusa) and Sailor Stars (lost interest).

All of it. Had 99% of episodes taped, bought all manga and all the movies that were out.
From perspective of time it's hilarious, but back then I was just starting to get into anime and Sailor Moon was the only thing avaible, as it was airing at one local station. Only after like 2-3 years other modern anime started to get translated to polish.

Love sailor moon. It is my guilty anime pleasure.
Some of the themes of the show are so basic, but executed really well.
sailor saturn <3

I think my favourite season is the one with the dark moon or whatever it was.

I wish there was a high budget action game based on this IP. would play.

edit: the death scenes in the last part of season 1 are so iconic

I really should finish up the series. I think I was only able to get to see the first two seasons. Waking up at 4 am just watch back when I was young. Geeeeez.

i used to watch it in the morning before school though i dont know how many seasons or whatever i saw. i also remember playing a 2D RPG too, not sure for what system

it also introduced innocent 11 year old me to hentai

It's best to filter episodes from filler - it's a long watch.

I think I watched it all in grade school (not all episodes though as it was on TV and I sometimes had other things to do). Good stuff.

Bought the fansubs of the whole series. Never got around to watching the final season.

Also bought all of the official DVDs (which, as you know, never included the final season).

Bought and read the Mixx/Tokyopop version manga. Re-buying it from Kodansha (and feeling less dirty).

Wasn't dark moon Sailor Moon R/second season?
Season 2 (Sailor Moon R) had the filler Doom Tree saga, followed by the actual Dark Moon saga.

Whatever was shown in America (either in syndication, or on Cartoon Network), I watched, all the way up to some horribly dubbed/censored episode where Serena goes to a party with Darien and gets "silly" on "fruit juice".

Yeah, it was girly shit but it was anime so fuck you.

I watched all five seasons and the three movies when they aired in Germany more than ten years ago. I liked it back then. I would probably watch the show again without the filler episodes.

Love Sailor Moon.

Currently watching the live action series Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon.

Also, you just set off the Hitokage alarm.

Until Cartoon Network stopped showing new episodes, whenever that was. I really need to watch it again, but have no idea how to outside of torrents and I will not do that.

Never saw an episode.

Man, Sailor Mercury has that cute geeky girl thing going on.

But Sailor Jupiter is a brunette, and can cook.

I watched this on Toonami, mostly because it came on before Dragon Ball Z. But it was a good show for the most part, and liked the short anime skirts.

I actually only really watched through what was in the first DiC run. After that I watched a handful of fansubbed episodes--some from the first season, some from the last season.

Read the manga completely though.

I watched all of it that aired on Toonami back in the day. Any word on a Blu-ray release?

I should read the manga, the entire Tokyopop run is sitting in my sister's room. The new Kodansha run is going to take forever to come out.

Cartoon Network went all the way through SuperS (neptune and uranus were cousins), so that's what I watched. Mars, Pluto, and Jupiter were the best.

They remastered it for the Japanese DVD release, and it had film grain, so it's probably never going to have better-than-DVD picture, unless it's fake HD created by filters.

Hmm... I just realized it's the 20th anniversary of the anime this year. Hope they do something, but I doubt it.

I watched Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R on TV and Sailor Moon S and Super S DVDs. I never saw Sailor Stars because it was never released here.

I was so mad when the show got cancelled and participated in the Save Our Sailors Internet campaign as much as I could. Sailor Moon was the first anime I ever watched and I loved it so much.

I watched Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R TV dubs and Sailor Moon S and Super S DVD subs.

Did you buy poptarts?

I remember that I cried in the last episodes of season 1....

It hit me in a sweet spot seing how all of they died and helped Serena....

Also i cried on the ending of Terminator 2 (lava sacrifice) T_T

Up until they introduced the dude withe the motorcycle and the green haired chick.

This was back in 1996 or 1997.

Edit: On YTV in Canada.

I was addicted when the show was on syndication. Still watched when it returned to Cartoon Network, but by then my interest wasn't as strong.

that's exactly what I did and what I would do. I would skip the filler and just go straight for the great episodes. They probably stood the test of time (and my getting older).

Like the one in season 1 where Tuxedo and Sailor Moon finally get to know each other and Tuxedo turns evil.

Or the one where Sailor Moon kills herself by falling down a huge (ice) tower to save everyone else.

Or the one where Sailor Moon's "sister" suddenly appears and everyone acts as if she had always been there.

So basically all the Buffy episodes ;-)

I've watched the entire anime + movies and read the manga. My friend was a Sailor Moon freak - she collected everything there was with it - so I had my source ;).

Fortunately, here in Poland, we got the anime with Japanese voices (and a polish female voice-over), Japanese openings/endings and almost totally uncut (IIRC at first they haven't aired the two ending episodes of the first season - the ones where all Sailor Scouts besides Usagi die).

Best magical girl anime of all time. OF ALL TIME.

Disagree:

Sailor moon does not hold a candle to MKR, but it's still decent. I'll admit though I only got as far as when they introduced the little girl who transformed into a full grown woman. I forget her name but it's been a long time since i've seen the show.

I'm going to admit I still haven't really watched Super S... maybe someday...

Otherwise, yeah, watched most of it. Though way back when we only had the first and second seasons, and there was no indication that we'd ever get more because it was dropped! Those were the dark times. I had to get fansubs sent to me on VHS tapes (yes I was *that kind* of geek.)

uh wtf? It's film so it has plenty enough resolution for HD.

Watched them on Italian TV in the 90s. Re-watched some in German later on, tried re-watching the whole as a sub, but didn't make it past the first few episodes. First and third seasons were the ones I liked best. Disliked Chibiusa mostly.

I watched the 3 movies, the live action version, and all the way up to S when I was younger. Don't think I could finish it now. Its story telling style probably doesn't hold up.
