Found by one @ Beyond3d:

Has a 2.4GHz Cell and an unreleased GPU with a slightly slower clock speed than RSX (overclocked G70?), connected via PCI-E (4-lane, only for test purposes).

The realtime E3 demos were running on this kit.

The software environment currently does not automatically split jobs up into threads (i wouldn't really expect that though, tbh?), but you can create your own threads, and choose from 3 different scheduling algorithms which the system will use to assign them to the SPEs automatically.

Just for reference, the blog it comes from belongs to the guy who did the post-E3 Chatani (Sony CTO) interview for PC Watch Impress.

Now thats cool.

Shit, you would easily be able to clock the cell to damn near 5 GHZ with that baby. :D

I know its just a dev kit but Sony would for sure give the thing a bit of style.

Whats that Bible doing up there? It better be King James rendition.

developers are required to read a passage out of the bible and pray that the kit actually works because the cost of shipping that behemoth back to Sony for a replacement would put all but the wealthiest developers out of business :(

I was just hoping the Devkit would be more aesthetically pleasing :(

A Kutaragi is curled up inside every box. ^_^

Please him, he whispers advice through the vent. Anger him, he will come out and strangle a bitch.

so much for the PS3 dev kits using 6800 SLI bullshit started by xbots. :)

It probably was at some point. There are different versions out there..this looks like the one with the G70 in it, by the sounds of it. That they were able to hook Cell up to PCI lanes means 6800s in SLI were almost certainly being used before G70 was available..I'm sure many kits still have them.

Also, that article mentions again that RSX hasn't taped out yet.

That wasn't started by xbots, that was mentioned in an article. So it looks like ps3 devs are working with close to final hardware. That should really make the 1st gen titles look good.

there is something evil about it that makes me want one real bad^^

I can only imagine turning the beast off at night

"dave... what are you doing... stop it. stop it dave your hurting me..."

Holy good mother of jesus orange juice!

Where the fuck are the cylinders?

PS: I pray for the developers sake that Sony provides those beasts free.

God damn.

wow, we got all the way to post #34 before we got the usual ignorant trolling in a next-gen thread. This must be some kind of record.

The early PS2 kits were really big too (and looked uglier in a retro-lots of leds with open insides- kinda way).
