LOS ANGELES, CA (August 10, 2004) - Vivendi Universal Games announced today the epic film that transcends generations and appeals to contemporary and urban audiences alike, Scarface, is now coming for the first time to game consoles worldwide. In a complex world filled with excess and greed, players can take the role of Tony Montana, one of the most ruthless gangsters ever depicted on film. Developed by Radical Games and published by Vivendi Universal Games, this third person action shooter is expected to ship Fall 2005.
"The treacherous world of Scarface is a natural property to translate into a cinematic game play experience," said Michael Pole, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Studios for Vivendi Universal Games. "The game will feature cutting-edge technology, a compelling storyline and the unprecedented experience of playing as one of Hollywood's most notorious gangsters, Tony Montana."

"Scarface was a landmark film and has inspired countless movies and games," said Bill Kispert, vice president of Interactive at Universal Studios Consumer Products Group. "Having the chance to now bring gamers the authentic experience is an opportunity and challenge we are looking forward to."

Highly acclaimed screenwriter, David McKenna, has written an original event-driven storyline for the interactive game that will lead the player through a sordid underworld. The Scarface video game will create a gameplay environment that authentically recreates the historical time period of the film, touching on politics, news items and events of the day. Players will travel through the steamy, often violent streets of Miami, the irie islands of the Florida Keys, the Bahamas and various other locales and will interact with a world full of seedy and dangerous characters to procure information, negotiate business deals, smuggle contraband and avoid rivals and DEA on a mission to rebuild their fallen empire.

About the film

Al Pacino gives an unforgettable performance as Tony Montana, one of the most ruthless gangsters ever depicted on film, in this gripping crime epic inspired by the 1932 classic of the same title. Directed by hit-maker Brian DePalma and produced by Martin Bregman who brought the Godfather legends to the screen, Scarface follows the violent career of Tony Montana (Pacino), a ruthless Cuban refugee who blasts his way to the top of Miami's drug underworld, attaining wealth and power beyond his wildest dreams. His rags-to-riches ascent is marked by memorable moments, including a scene in which the cocky Montana risks his neck to propose to Elvira (Michelle Pfeiffer), the girlfriend of murderous drug kingpin Frank Lopez (Robert Loggia). Only in the film's devastating finale does Montana come to grips with the awful price of his lavish empire.

With its intense screenplay by Academy Award*-winner Oliver Stone, driving music score by Giorgio Moroder, and superb insights into Miami's lifestyle, Scarface lays bare the sordid power of the American drug scene.

Fight Club 2 ?

They finally announced it... some comedian... oh the guy who does the Madden impersonation... IIRC awhile ago he announced that he was doing the voice work for a Scarface game.

Step 1: buy GTA: Double Pack for Xbox (or both titles seperately for PC)
Step 2: Rip Flashback FM into your Vice City MP3 station.
Step 3: ????
Step 4: SCARFACE THE GAME

Forget this crap, where is that game based on The Warriors?

I want to be a member of the Baseball Furies.

The Scarface brand if you can call it that, is super strong considering the movie is 20+ years old, is violent and controversial.

This can be a major cash cow if they don't fuck it up.

It'll sell big in So Cal regardless. I have so many customers who come in sporting that scarface poster t-shirt... and they will hand me their credit card and say "say hello to my little friend."

No, seriously. It's fucked up. But it is sure to sell well here, I'm sure.

Actually, the Warriors game is being released by R*, developed here in Canada. A former co worker and good friend of mine is doing art and character modelling for the game.

They've recently gone into an art-lock, so the game should be completed shortly.

Maybe Red Dawn, Revenge of the Nerds, and the Outsiders will be converted to games soon. Now Ben Hur could actually become a great epic adventure game.

That would be Frank Caliendo…I’ve heard him do Pacino on one of his comedy CDs, and he does a great job. If you can’t get Pacino himself, Caliendo is the next best thing.

Scarface is not a great movie, it's a very slow moving flick. But a lot of movies in the early 80's were in the same vein. It's got some classic scenes, a couple of good/great actors, and lots of drugs and violence. The movie simply hasn't aged well at all, times have changed too much. What was shocking in 1982 is no longer shocking at all.

Lemme write a note here -- if I ever do a movie, make it sure that it will still be shocking, new and fresh in 20 years. I guess you guys wanted Scarface to have a posse, pimped out cars with neons, and Beyonce a drudged out Beyoncé as a girlfriend. and Snoop Dog instead of Mani.

eah homie i'm going out with your sister, for shigglez mizlles. Let's smoke pot now"

I hope that's not aimed at me. I'm still a fan of the movie for what it is, I'm just telling new potential viewers that it's no Goodfellas.

Things change. Scarface was made int the middle of 3 hour Hollywood dramas, and as such, the movie drags in several parts. That's just the way it goes though, it still has several scenes that must be seen by any film major.
