If you had to honestly say right now - do you see all these gaming companies as a business or your friends?

Well, friendship at least means equal relationship, instead we have plenty of shills who are clearly living with a master-slave mentality, which is much worse and pathetic

They're business's of my hobby. I am rooting for them because they make the games. In a free economy they don't have to be my friends just make stuff I want to pay for

You make a good product, I give you my money. Period. No more no less.

Don't involve your company in politics, don't virtue signal on social media, and don't pretend like we're friends.

I see here some of them who defending the company like their own wife and often bash other company. It's unhealthy...
It's still fine If You like the company though

Business. Never friends. They care about your wallet not you, thats why i think fanboys are dumb. Fighting for a company that doesn't give two shits about them.

As a business of course. I've never seen any of these companies as my friends, even when I was a kid. Any adult thinking these companies are out here to be your friends is either very naive or idiotic. As long as money is involved they can never be our friends lol.

I see all gaming companies as business, of course.

That said, though, if I were to stretch the word "friend" I could consider some dev teams inside said companies as such. Some games make you feel seen by how much love was poured into making them. FFVII Rebirth is the most recent example for me. I wish that team all the success in the world.

Compare it to other industries, most of them indescribable and if it happens, usually it's gross. But you have to take artists, creators, devs, writers aside cause they could do no wrong and may exceed our expectations.

I see them as companies that do products I enjoy. But I hold certain companies in higher regard than others due to their own philosophies. For example, I think Nintendo has the right viewpoint and is quite unique in their outlook.

Do some actually think of companies as friends? I've never even considered my favourite hockey team as my friends.

I think the question doesn't make sense.

They run a business, and you may like what they do or not, maybe to the point of becoming a fan of them or their work. That's all.

I don't think how you can consider them your friends unless you know them personally face to face since years ago and have a close personal relationship.
