Okay fine, so who's the Thanos of the HB Universe that Scooby, Jabberjaw, Captain Caveman, Josie, and Space Ghost will have to band together and face for the sake of mankind, but will build up for for 15 years?
Not all Cinematic Universes have to be about heroes or confrontations, I think the idea is for them to feature in their own stories but all share the same world, so if later on they want to explore crossovers, they can do so, like Scooby-Doo and the flintstones solving a mystery together.

Now that I think about it, yeah Scooby Doo already had the "universe" prior to Marvel doing it.

Isn't it canon that they exist with other HB and WB franchises, and even Archie too?

Anyway sucks that they are taking potshots as Mystery Inc. :(

What about the Hong Kong Phooey movie?

I was about to be like "didn't they just make a Scooby Doo movie not long ago?", but then read the
After more than a dozen years,

Welp time for another reboot I guess. The kids that saw the first movie are going to college now.

Shit, I have to wait 15 years for Wacky Races? I'm out.

they kind of already do this. they dont really need to start a new continuity since most of the shows are self-contained yet feature a lot of crossovers and they rarely contradict anything.

it would be nice if there was some sort of meta story that actually affected the different characters in their own ways, though

They've already been pushing for the shared universe thing. There was a Scooby Doo/Blue Falcon DTV movie fairly recently, and a Tom & Jerry/ Jonny Quest one released about a month ago.

Fred was suppose to invite the rest of the HB universe to a Christmas party but lost the envelopes while doing some charity stuff. Santa ran across them and decided to deliver them and bring the guests back right as Fred was trying to tell Wilma how he screwed up. Believe it or not I actually still have it and re-read it every couple of years.

Yep, that's the one. And the Quick Draw McGraw strip was actually a Huckleberry Hound strip about him visiting Quick Draw McGraw.

I wonder if it's still at my parents' somewhere. I haven't thought about it in years.

Someone from The Great Gazoo's planet? Or, heck, make him a villain. It wouldn't be the first time the HB universe has made an irritating shark-jumpy "good guy" into a villain.

Harvey Birdman was the best way to put all the Hanna-Barbera characters in the same universe. And it worked perfectly.

"And now we make... PARTY!"

Edit: Great thread title

No, sorry... this needs origin stories for Velma, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne and Scooby. How can they introduce them in the same film?

"When Scooby Met Shaggy". Including a scene in a diner where Scooby demonstrates audibly how he howls for Scooby Snacks.

Make this the same art and writting as Scooby Doo Mystery inc. and make the mixed universe like the mystery gang competition (Funky ghost, speed boogey, captain caveman, Jabberjaw...), Johny Quest and Dynomutt tribute episodes and call it a day.

I would pay a lot of money to see Jetsons, Flinstones and Wacky Races movies with the same writting and artstyle of Mystery Inc. Thats for sure.

In the majority of series? yes. They all share the same universes. The more realistic try of one (something that would be similar from what we are seeing now in MCU for example) was on Mystery Inc.

They've been taking swipes at Mystery Inc. in the past couple of DTV movies, so I wouldn't be surprised if they regard it as a failure and are going to use it as a model of what not to do for this movie.

What the... I hope this is not true and you are just seeing things where they dont exist.
I know that financially it wasnt a success for them, but critically and fan acclaimed is one of the best series they ever had.
Also WB still uses mystery inc art for other scooby doo promotions, like the musical and theme park rides...

Oh, I would love a live-action The Jetsons in the style of The Flintstones (1994).

Who would play George?

Wasn't this in development hell forever? I really liked the 94 Flintstones movie, though I admit it could be terrible since I haven't seen it in forever.

George needs to be Steve Martin. Mr Spacely needs to be Danny Devito. I don't really give a shit who plays anyone else but those two are musts.

It's been stated, but if it's along the lines of quality that Mystery, Inc. turned out to be, then this will be awesome.

Ready for the post credits scene of captain caveman being thawed from the ice.

As long as they keep the budgets relatively low and the writing above average this could be a decent money-spinner. Can cash in on nostalgic adults very easily.

Maybe this will be the conclusion to Mystery Incorporated you guys? Right?

right???

I'm sad now.

What? As I recall it had a pretty definitive ending after season 2.
Maybe I am confused.

Regardless, hopefully it has the same tone as Mystery Incorporated.
That show was awesome.

DId Hanna Barbera make Super Friends as well?

Would love to see them in there as an easter egg or just a camp parody.

i didnt realize it, but yeah, they did do Superfriends.

i dont think Scooby Doo ever crossed into the Superfriends show. IIRC that show was kind of just more about the super heroes and not really about comedy, so it was always pretty lame to me

The only thing about this that concerns me is how laughably bad the new Scooby Doo cartoon looks in comparison to Mystery Inc. what the hell are they thinking?

I don't mind a lot of the modern takes on Scooby-Doo(What's New Scooby-Doo, Mysteries Inc). I actually don't mind this, even with talks of a "cinematic universe". As long as the tone's matches the cartoons and not that fuckin- live action movie, I'm game. Fuckin' Scrappy pissing all over the place... that shit's Michael Bay-level childhood bastardization.

You just made me realize how odd it was that characters like Jabberjaw, Fred Flintstone, Yogi bear, etc are basically characterizations of actors who were alive at the time. But they weren't voiced by those actors.

It would be like someone having a new cartoon character who sounded like Seth Rogen or Paul Rudd but wasn't them.
You mean Sam from Total Drama Island.

I've heard good things about Dax Shepard's CHiPS movie, so I assume this move is following in that project's wake. WB must be pleased.
