Damn guys, I have so much fun with this game, so silly but at the same time intriguing. To be honest I could play this all days with my friends all year long. Which generate question, will this become one of mega-ultra hits timeless multiplayer like PUBG, Minecraft GTA V and others? I've seen the popularity of this game shoot through the roof when your average joe in my country talking about this game. The price of the game is cheap too and the game itself doesn't need high specced PC to play it.

Congrats Rare you hit it out of the park this time, I will continue to play this games for the time being (possibly all year long)

(PS: don't turn this into another xbox worship thread)

Alot of ppl don't care for the repetitive meta. Not even highly rated. I don't care for it personally and got bored asap. I know no one tht even plays it now. Minecraft has crazy longevity.

Many are in agreement.

I have play it for a little bit on Gamepass it not really my type of game but cool that it doing well but it won't be anywhere close to PUBG and Minecraft level those 2 games alone have sales upwards of 300 million combine.

Go Go Neo Rangers!
Game is in a much better place than 2 years ago. The tall tales were some of the most fun I've had this gen in multi fashion. The lack of saves was a huge sore spot for me but they finally fixed that.

If they continue support I see this game being in the picture with a good healthy player base but not in the same league as Minecraft.

It's already starting to drop on Steam. Stick a fork in it, it's done.

Hopefully Rare focuses on EverWild going forward. I respect Rare a ton for focusing on innivation. Maybe EverWild is the PUBG level hit we're waiting for.

I think this game would benefit greatly from a class system and dare I say some sort of progression.

I really enjoyed playing it quite a bit with my Dad. That said, we stepped away for probably the last year or so because content just wasn't their. One of my buddies is a huge SoT streamer and he's told me how they've added so much content since I've last played that it convinced me and my Pops to download it again. Have it downloaded and ready to go, but I'm gonna wait until I've played through TloU Part 2 before dedicating any time to it.

No people these days don't have friends and that game SUCKS without friends.

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
I wish I had the schedule and friends to play this kind of game. I usually boot it up alone and regret it 10 minutes after. It is an awful experience for a solo player. Most of the games that become classics have an engrossing single player experience.

Pubg was timeless? I felt that buggyass game was outdated by the the fortnite came out. Blackout and warzone were just the final nails in the coffin.

"Final nail in the coffin"

PUBG currently has 119,000 players playing concurrently on Steam. Good for 3rd most played game on Steam. Sea of Thieves is already dropping (goodbye honeymoon period) with only 31,000 concurrent players.

PUBG a little bit more successful than many realize.

Many of those reviews were from launch. The game has improved significantly since then.
Ign gave it an 8. An 8 is a very good score for this kind of game. Look at PUBG or even Fortnight reviews.

Sea of Thieves?? Among biggest franchises of all-time?? Lol.....

Of course you listed PUBG also in this category which shows you're clearly are out of touch. I'll give you Minecraft. Putting PUBG in that category is laughable. Putting Sea of Thieves there is just outright hilarious.

PUBG and Fortnite are exponentially superior games to Sea of Thieves. Both of those titles had insanely long and steady growth periods. Sea of Thieves is already starting to crash on Steam and we're what, a week from release? The game has major issues.

Gaming media is ill equipped to truly assess multiplayer games because they can't invest the time into games built to be played for months and years.

Honestly, any gaming critic that gave Fortnite less than a 9.5/10 should be cancelled. I don't even believe in cancel culture but you can't argue with me there.

puts out an early access game with no content as full priced game
hit it out of the park

dafuq??

it's timeless because there's zero variety and repetitive as fuck, to the point time stands still. It's called No Man's Seas for a reason.

Well PC users are getting the full version at least.

I played this the first week it came out on pc. I enjoyed it, but obviously with the lack of content at launch I got bored and haven’t played since. Maybe it’s time to fire it up again

This game is the antithesis to a timeless great. I think this thread was pure bait and trolling. This game is mediocre at best even at its best. Shit like this is why I don't rock with Microsoft

Next up "bleeding edge is the epitome of online games" 😂😂😂gtfo here lol

I'm not bait or trolling, I'm just enjoying my time there omg you villain

It became a really good MP game. But it has a high price while minecraft and PUBG are cheaper.

Sea of Thieves is $40 on PC. It's already losing players a week after launch.

PUBG was $30 dollars for more than a year and grew in player base the entire time.

Either that $10 dollars is magic, or the gameplay loop in Sea of Thieves has real issues.

Unfortunately there are not very many people that share the same sentiment. I play it every now and again, but as someone else said the repetitive meta is kind of a snoozefest. I can see the potential of it, but Rare is just missing it with every new patch. Maybe one day they'll hit the nail on the head, but as of right now I just don't see it. It'll never compare to Minecraft though. There aren't many games that can or ever will to be fair.

PUBG is not timeless on PC, but the mobile version which is the same game but better...

Tencent’s PUBG Mobile rakes in US$226 million in May, continuing streak as highest-grossing mobile game globally
PUBG Mobile’s revenue rose 41 per cent year-on-year in May, topping Sensor Tower’s ranking of global mobile game revenue for the ninth straight month

Not very fair as SOT is years old now, and is on Gamepass. The fact it managed to get to no.1 on Steam charts is quite impressive. It also had 29k ingame earlier today, while it peaked at 20k on launch day.

I don't think that's relavent at all.

The Steam release opened the game up to a new audience. That audience seems to be tiring of the game already.

This also mirrors how XBox owners reacted to the game over the last two years. It has consistently been hovering between the 20-30 spot on XBox Lives Most Played Games list since launch.

There's something funky about the gameplay loop. It just doesn't seem to have legs for most players.

Still pumped to see what EverWild is.

By having more ingame today than it did on launch day?. And how is it not relevant that the game is on Gamepass, a service that has what 10mil subs?.
Look the game is not for me, never played it, even though i have Gamepass, but trying to downplay it is silly.

That's not how you're supposed to view these statistics. You're supposed to view the trend, not simply compare current numbers to launch day numbers. That doesn't make any sense.

It doesnt make sense to use player numbers to judge if a game is dying?, ok then.

The future of that game died the day they decided to port it to Xbox over ps4. Fortnite then launched for free and the rest is history. Everyone will remember fortnite in 50 years time. Pubg will be forgotten.

No. The way you compared today's numbers to it's launch day numbers doesn't make any sense.
You view player engagement as a trend. That tells you a more complete picture.

SoT doesn't even have fraction of AAA game playerbase let alone juggenaught like PUBG.

It's a great game but is very complex. Like doing anything requires a ton of work. And the need basically for it to fully be enjoyed with friends I think is another road block. It can be huge for them tho, it has a ton of players on it.

I think I would like the game if I could have a regular group of friend playing for hours at a time.

I wish...
