Seems like most third-party developers will not support Switch 2

After State of Play and Summer Game Fest, I can't barely remember how many third-party games get announced for Switch 2. For everyone expecting a strong support for it, I think these are bad news.

Oh here we go again …

But the same "crying" has been happening in other forums too.

But I gotta give it to Nintendo, they've been smart enough to pay some $$$ and announce third party games versions on their own shows (Nintendo Directs)

So if I was an avid Nintendo only fan, I would wait some time to make my mind about third party support on Switch 2.

Why do you wast your time with these kinda posts. Switch 2 sold 3 million units in less than 72 hours. 90% of third party never got a development kit. There will be plenty of third party ports on switch 2. Haters gunna hate but developers want to be where gamers are and switch 2 may end up hanging the largest install base in the end.

Switch 2 was released today. These shows are planned months ago, maybe up to half a year. Give it some time and you will see a lot of third party support. Most devs outside the most popular probably haven't even gotten a dev kit yet. Have some patience.

Third party support will probably drop when the next gen arrives and the SW2 cant compete with that power.

However I think the lack of SW2 compatible games are probably because of the rushed release that has been rumored. Many devs just didnt had the dev kits tools to port their games in time. I think we will see a lot of announcement of "Switch 2 upgrade" in the following months.

Hello Games had NSW2 dev kits for "the last year", I doubt that most developers didn't had them.

But I should wait and see in future Nintendo directs.

But, I don't think that "everything" will come to the Switch 2.

I too am shocked that no titles for Switch 2 were announced during during Sony's event that occurred prior to Nintendo's new console launching.

Hate is coming for you OP.
It's a new console. If it has a good start like it seems and can handle the games, ports will come don't worry.

I'll keep the switch around for the wife who's really into playing mario stuff. And that really has been the point of Nintendo hardware for a long time now... The Nintendo games.

I didn't expect everything to show up for it, but I will say I definitely expected more than we've seen so far.

The big 3rd party partners/developers have definitely had Switch 2 devkits for quite a while by by now.

I personally have been saying forever i expect pretty much the same support the o.g. switch got with sega and capcom leading the way. Was dissappointed no re9 switch 2 announcement though.

This forum seems full of people who missed out on the Sega/Nintendo console wars kids in places like the USA/UK got to enjoy in the late 80s early 90s. So many poors got into gaming late in the day that they want that beef.

Suckers.

Nintendo has barely announced any games for it. Most likely no one has anything ready for the next year.

We probably won't hear announcements for it until late this year into next year.

Most third parties didn't come to the Switch until after it started selling well.

RE9 has been in development for PS5/XBS/PC for most likely longer than Capcom has had dev kits. In fact, Capcom only has like one Switch 2 game when they could've easily ported the RE remakes, 8, 9 and MH: Rise to it but hasn't. I'd say Capcom hasn't had kits long enough to have gotten much up and running.

To be fair what Nintendo console since Snes has had a ton of 3rd party support?, especially compared to the other consoles.

A lot of studios will be also be gearing up for PS6/Xbox Next and good luck Switch 2 getting versions of those games.

I think you are mainly right. The current install base is small so it will take a while to offset development cost and there is no point in hamstringing PS5/PC/XS projects for that currently small crowd. I do believe third party support will be there with older gen games being ported at lower cost and eventually newer games made to run on it.

I've actually counted them for SGF. There you go:

- Mio Memories in Orbit
- Mouse: P.I. for Hire
- Lego Voyagers
- Nicktoons & The Dice of Destiny
- Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree
- Scott Pilgrim EX
- Hitman World of Assassin LeChiffre
- Lego Party

There's cases where a platform holder will pay their way to make it look like there's support out of the gate, but third parties lose interest once they aren't getting their palms greased.

All I can see for now, is that cyberpunk does not appear to be an "impossible port". Seems like S2 can more or less play the game the way it was intended without moving mountains. So the capability is there for many, if not all games. The audience is there. If their buying habits show that they want need for speed or resident evil or whatever, then the games will be made.

Every third party game is going to look like shit on the switch 2 so why bother buying it on that platform anyway 'cyberpunk having no NPC's'? Buy it on the series x, or ps5 if you got one and skip the switch 2 for anything third party wise.
