From Sega Europe -

"Later this year three intrepid SEGA employees will be packing their bags and waving farewell to SEGA HQ for a few weeks. The next time we'll hear from them is likely to be a chilly phone call from the top of Kilimanjaro.

The SEGA team scaling one of the world's highest peaks and raising money through auctions, collections and sponsorships for the games industry charity ESC. All proceeds are going to some great and wide ranging causes including funding schools in near Kilimanjaro, working with disabled youngsters in the UK and giving street children in Tanzania chance for a better life.

There's some limited edition goodness available for auction on eBay. Check out the descriptions below and if anything takes your fancy pop along to the auction to place a bid. Even if it doesn't why not place a bid to help raise as much as we can for charity.

Happy Bidding

I work for a major game retailer here in Australia and was lucky enough to get my Dreamcast signed by Mr. Naka last year. :)
He was here doing some promotions for Icestorm Ent. (Aust. dist for Sega) and taking part in the Tasmanian Rally. The guys from Icestorm bought him into my store in Chadstone where I had the chance to meet him and got both my Dreamcast and a Sega t-shirt signed. Does anybody have any idea what something like that would be worth??

I love the way that just because some guy or another has a job at sega it's allowed for their items to be advertised, if I tried to advertise my ebay stuff on here I doubt it would go down well.

These items aren't even that good. Bring me the Sonic Xtreme Beta or maybe a Sega Neptune prototype, and I'll get my wallet out.

In Europe it is (unless you import). We are the continent of rubbish joysticks (and no Hori distributor), as anyone who tried to play any fighting game on a horrid Electrocoin cabinet would tell you.

Anyway it's all for charridy so that makes it alright, or something.

I personally would bid for them since they're great SEGA stuff to have, but I'm broke at this. And yes I would personally pay in pounds even though american money is my thing since I'm living in america. I somewhat have a british account :)

Apologies for the bump, but I need to vent as I've spent too much time trying to resolve this without so much as a sorry for the inconvenience.

I won one of the auctions, but somehow Sega weren't able to set up a working paypal account, and I had to make payment via their charity interface thing. Which is all well and good if they actually held their end of the bargain and shipped the item in question.

To this day I've not received an email reply from the person handling it or have been able to contact them despite sending mails to the contact emails address, a googled Sega email address or via telephone. As it wasn't handled through paypal, I can't reclaim the money from them or either ebay as I spent most of November on my back due to illness and missed the item not received window.

I spoke with two of the other winners in December who were still waiting on contact from Sega about their items. I've not heard if they got any resolution, but I'm more astonished that a press contact at such a company has such scant disregard for a customer, regardless of their relative size or importance.

Oh come now, it's clear that your money went to the "help keep Sega alive so they can pump out more shit software when they should've died after the Dreamcast instead of ruining the company's legacy" fund. Or maybe I'm just bitter, I dunno.

One final bump from me. The seller contacted me last week after I had given up on them, and requested my address again citing email problems.

On Friday I received my item, a free copy of Shadow the Hedgehog, some keyring things, Sonic Pinball Party for GBA and a postcard of Sonic(both signed by Yuji Naka) and best of all an inflatable transparent beach ball with Ai Ai in it.

Hey, it was free. I'm going to see if the guy in the local videogame shop will swap it for something good. Like some burst balloons.
