They have not confirmed that [yet]... but Matt-IGN has been hinting at Xenon all along.

They should be able to have a titel ready for Xenon launch, or at least a couple months after. After the split Nintendo I'm pretty certain MS approach them and asked them to develop Xbox titles. But as the Xenon is on the way I bet they ported that stuff to Xenon. Remember that thing Allard said, about how easy it was to port Xbox stuff to the Xenon?

wow. what happened with factor5 .. why did they dump nintendo? cause one of their games did mediocre?

I love how people call ED a shitty game. It's clearly their taste that's shitty :lol

It has 91% over at Gamerankings and has been awarded with tons of GOTY awards. If it isn't your cup of tea, okay fine dont play it, but dont call the game or the developer shitty just because you didn't happened to like it.

I didn't like KOTOR, so KOTOR is a shitty game and BioWare is shitty overrated company. DIE! :insert you know what:

I consider SK a shitty developer cause I can't remember the last game they did before ED... hell what generation was the last game they did before ED in?(Last original title, not Twin Snakes).

That'd be Blood Omen on the PSone/PC.

Really. I mean, those fuckers haven't even made a game THIS GEN! Metal Gear was a remake and ED (which did fucking suck) was an old n64 game that was redone for gamecube.

And thats why ED sucks so much. It felt just like a last gen game.

"Hey, watch me as I finish off this monster with a......finishing attack!"

Plus all that hype for such a mediocre magic system and weak ass 'insanity effects'. SK have only themselves to blame for people's disapointment in the game.

Ok so I did remember correctly... Blood Omen fans don't get me wrong.. BO was fun... but how the hell did SK rise to such esteem in peoples minds? I mean f*ck they are WORSE than Rare in terms of getting titles out.

When they went exclusively to Nintendo. I think that brought the illusion of legitimacy to their studio.

The predictable dismissal of Silicon Knights on GAF is one of those biases that one should just filter out. ED and TS are both excellent games overall.

I'm definitely looking forward to what SK comes up with, at this time more than anything else published by Sega except perhaps Condemned.

They got picked up by Nintendo which is where alot of the respect for them came from. Even n-Space is getting more attention now, and all they're most known for Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen games.

Eternal Darkness was very N64-ish in terms of graphics and gameplay and Twin Snakes wasnt even their game. It was a remake and a shoddy one at that.

The predictable small but vocal defense of SK should generally be filtered out... this is a developer that in the last 2 generations... has delivered 2 original titles... and 1 remake.... and one of the original titles ended up get pushed back a generation before it came out.

If people give Rare for shit with their timetables, why the hell wouldn't SK catch hell for theirs?

As other's have pointed out, it's mostly because of Nintendo picking them up. SK was also a part of Nintendo's "Dream Team" of developers who would suppossedly supply the N64 and beyond with high quality, mature content.

I don't think SK's great, but I don't think they are garbage either. They are an average developer with a roller coaster history that has affected some gamers' perception of SK's work.

BTW, from the Q-mann section in the August 2004 issue of EGM:

"Sega Makes New Friends: You've probably heard by now that acclaimed GC developer Silicon Knights recently left the Nintendo round table. So what are they up to these days? Word around town is that SK is joining forces with the house that Sonic built. And get this--their top-secret project for Sega is an Xbox game."

It pays to pay attention to that section. Lotta people don't take him seriously but he's had a really, really good track record as of late...

Im just glad they didnt go exclusive to MS or Sony so hopefully their games will be multiplatform. Just in case Too Human is good.

That's a fair appraisal...

You know that reminds me... Dream Team I can remember one of the mags doing a giant splash series of pages listing all the Team members.. I can remember looking at it with friends pointing out certain teams and lol....

The hostility on this thread towards a small company like Silicon Knights is a little shocking. I thought Twin Snakes was fun, with most of the bad decisions being made by Ryuhei (i forget his last name). Some of the cutscenes were just too over the top for me

creative assembly, monolith and now silicon knights. even though one of them was bought up, sega has been making some good decisions lately. :D

This forum has a bit of a history with SK and some very vocal defenders.

Monolith is hit and miss, for every Shogo and that spy game whose name escapes me, there is a Claw, Aiken, and well, matrix online.

That is silly...what VOCAL (implying aggressive, extensive, and/or biased) defense?

Simply considered against the wider gamescape, ED and TS are excellent games regardless of wider GAF dismissal. And I believe SK could come up with something excellent in the future, whenever that is.

That is all that was said, dismissing the hate (including yours) towards SK is NOT the same as being a vocal defender. So if you must, continue your vocal attack on SK's games, business, production timelines, whatever. It is being filtered out, as was any great love/hype for the company that GAF used to have long ago (though those 2 GC games turned out nicely after all).

What I'm saying is this... it's all well and good to have short memories... and maybe some folks who are here not were NOT here during the ED days... or the Twin Snakes days... or even when said (not necessarily you) SK defenders came in here to proclaim the Legacy of Kain series shit and blame CD for stealing it from SK, etc....

Some of us simply have longer memories.

SK is an average developer, no more, no less... for now.

And SK's website still has a Nintendo logo and a link to the Nintendo home page.

GOOD GOING!

Not only that, but the website has been modified as recent as September...More than enough time to take down the logo...Oh, and thanks for the link...

SK was way after the dreamteam. The dreamteam is even funnier. Spectrum Holobyte and Acclaim and some other nobodies.

Silicon Knights is not a big company! What do you expect? 4 original titles per year? :lol

However they are expanding right now, so they will deliver more and faster titles in the future. Their two games this gen have both been awesome, both among gamers and critics. So all you haterz can tell yourself what the hell you want.

The St. Catherines Standard recently reported that Silicon Knights is doubling its staff size. Right now they are around 70 people, and working on at least 2 projects, so we can probably expect to see more games or faster development on the games they are working on now.

Dear Lord. Let it end!

Factor 5 and Silicon Knights are 100%, totally, definitely, absolutely, undeniably, and completely NOT working on Nintendo Revolution software.

NOT. NOT. NOT!

NOT!

When they announce Xenon games, will you believe it then? Or are their Xenon projects just cover stories for future Revolution games?

Matt

Well, now we know it aint for Rev for sure......

:lol omg they're expanding! Must have been the insane revenue they got from ED that's making that happen.

Oh wait...

Forgot this quote:

"So we bring people in here at Silicon Knights and believe it or not most of them don't have any previous experience making games, and we prefer to have it that way. We'll bring people in here with no experience and we'll train them just like a guild would - we'll train them in our craft, because that's what we believe game development is, much more than a science." - Denis Dyack, President of Silicon Knight

As much as I'm down on Sega lately, deservedly so, this is a great move. They have made a string of good partnerships to postition them very differently going into next gen.

Blood
Shogo
Blood 2
AVP 2
NOLF
NOLF 2
Contact Jack
Tron 2.0

The only true miss in that list is the misguided Contract Jack. How many other companies can be that proud of their entire catalog?

“We intend to establish SEGA as a leading publisher on the next generation of game hardware and only the highest possible quality of Western-developed content will get us there,” said Simon Jeffery, President and COO, SEGA of America.

Is that the same Simon Jeffery who nearly killed Lucasarts with just classic titles such as Masters of the Teras Kasi, Force Commander, and Jedi Power Battles?

Yes.

ETERNAL DARKNESS ROCKED AND I'LL BUY AN XBOX2 FOR THIS SO THERE

Betcha it's a Xenon launch title. (Or is supposed to be, then gets bumped.)

Very good news! I love SK and I love SEGA. I was expecting some kind of Konami deal to be honest, but this is pretty good too. AWESOME-O!

Twin Snakes and Eternal Darkness rock. Screw you guys.

Why is no one here wondering if any of this may have made Nintendo and SEGA cosier together?
