It's been quite a while since we had TWO triple-A (or are they really?) survival horror releases in the same month. Not only that, but we're talking about brand new titles that are not remakes of old classics. We be eating good next month.

Will you catch'em all though? If not, which will you choose?

- The newly-crowned genre darlings Bloober, that redefined themselves with Silent Hill 2 after mid-to-ok walking sims:

- The new and rather risky direction of the franchise that gave us some of the greatest games not only in survival horror, but gaming in general:

I will 100% play both eventually.

Cronos is a wait for sale. It looks fine.

Silent Hill f, despite me thinking there is zero chance of getting it day 1, I am actually considering it. The latest footage looks really good. 1st Japanese made Unreal 5 game ever I think. Play Anywhere title. If it reviews well and I'm not buried in other games, I might get it day 1. If not, I will get it very soon.

Unless player feedback is overwhelmingly positive I won't be there for either launch. Chronos loses me with the MC design and Bloober only did well with someone else's blueprint while Silent Hill loses me with the price and lack of confidence in the developer. Admittedly, the same happened with SH2R which i did eventually get and enjoy but that was well after launch. Plus there's other games that have or will have my attention.

Edit: Halloween time is a possibility but there are a couple other releases that I have already planned as my Halloween games.

Silent Hill F looks better to me, but I'm keeping my eye in Chronos too. Looks a little ugly and basic but has a ton of potential. I want to read some opinions before I get it.
Not getting any at lauch, though

Cronos not having an Xbox physical release is bullshit though, and because of this I will wait for a sale. I might get the PS5 physical copy eventually, but I'm trying to keep my PS5 library all digital aside from exclusives. I assume the Switch 2 version will be a game key card, and will be the worst version.

I really need to stop buying physical games, haha.

Both with early access, they're 3 or so weeks apart, more than enough to finish Cronos
I thought that at first but in retail release said it coming out in 19th but the official date is 5th.

I have no idea when this game is officially coming out.

What? You want a physical version for Xbox but not PS? Yet you say you should stop buying physical games? Are you ok?

I'm a pretty big survival horror fan, but both are not really speaking to me.

I had high hopes for Chronos, but the gameplay looks so simplistic. It's very Dead Space in a Silent Hill setting and without the dismemberment.

SH F(uuuuck) looks more like an action RPG than a true survival horror.
Maybe I'm wrong, though. But the hype here is zero.

Yeah, this is the case with the Hell is Us deluxe edition too. Although the standard still has the normal launch date. Problem is, seeing two different release dates. One 9/29 and the other 10/13 for Hell is Us.

But I'll be getting both Silent Hill and Cronos.

At launch I think I will get Silent Hill F since it is a play anywhere title, so I can play on my laptop and on my Series S.

I am not a huge fan of Silent Hill, but this one seems interesting to me, because it kinda reminds me of Siren and Kuon, two games that I love.

I might even buy a physical copy for PS5.

Waiting on reviews but expectations are high! When they said SH had soulslike elements that sold me for sure. I'll take negative reviews about that one with a grain of salt. I think it will be legendary.

Latest Cronos gameplay looked bad. I have a physical on pre-order but i'm going to wait for impressions to hit before unwrapping.

So with that in mind: Silent Hill f.

I'll never buy a game at launch knowing it will be ~50% cheaper very soon after release. There are far too many games to play as it is and buying new doesn't make any financial sense these days.
