* edit : it may be good for Microsoft Japan : they lose less and less money because of sales decrease :D

Don't think anyone could've predicted DS outselling the PSP by such a large margin during September, it was a very slow month release wise for DS (albeit a couple of popular titles mind) as opposed to it being a pretty impressive month release wise for PSP.

WTF?!?! Thats some crazy numbers for Nintendo. PSP did great, although I was expecting it do better with all the games that came out for it this month.

When you put the Xbox sales together like that, it really doesn't seem so bad.

Jesus christ. Capcom better do something soon... I bet Microsoft's hungry. :(

CVXFREAK said:
biohazard 4 and Rockman EXE 6 should push them up once the year is over.
Sure, but they still likely sell less than 2 million units of software for the year. That's horrible for a company Capcom's size. Plus the fact that everyone else their size seems to have mergered up (Bandai Namco, Square Enix, SEGA Sammy) or just bought out a ton of tiny publishers to grow (Konami) has me worried about Capcom. And screw Microsoft... what if someone like EA bought them? :(

It seems capcom's ambitious PSP support is starting to cost them. I mean, none of those titles can really have brought in cash for them :-( Probably should have spent those development resources on PS2 games instead.

They'll eventually blame PSP and start rerouting those resources... but it won't matter and sales will just remain flat on PS2/PS3. The same exact scenario happened with GameCube.

Then say hello to "Resident Evil 2006" and "Xtreme Devil May Cry 5 by EA Big featuring EA Trax!"

Well, the Rockman remakes appearing on PSP is a horrible business decision. One EXE game should be on GBA, another on DS.

That has something to do with PSP "being the future" and Capcom "must support it." Only time will tell if this is the correct decision or if it will be another "for the GameCube, for the Industry" type deals.

I'd go with the latter.

In which case, someone please put Deadly Silence on PSP and the Rockman games on the DS. :P

DMC3+RE4+MHG is what carried Capcom in 2005. It's as simple as that. And if you add those three games together, that's practically everything that Capcom sold this year. Luckily enough, those titles also did strong overseas, so if Capcom has been similar to other companies in Japan, but probably overcame them in worldwide sales.

So out of all those games you listed above, they have a combined sales of about 100,000. Which feels in the gap DMC3, RE4, and MH leave.

RE4 PS2, Monster Hunter for PSP and DMC3:SE should have them easily crack 1 million.

Well, let's see:
re4+dmc3+mhg =720.000
rockman exe team coloner (released in febreary) =200.000 aprox
x8+demento+sor+k7+rdr+vampire col= 120.000 aprox, i think
zero 4 =70.000 aprox
sengoku basara=160.000
gsaiban ds+exe 5 nds =120.000
psp games=25.000
Grand Theft Auto III=65.000

total aprox 1.480.000

811,175?? Strange.... only with RE 4, DMC 3 and Monster Hunter G they have something like 700.000
I believe the figure is fiscal year 2005, in which case most of those don't count.

Do you know for definite if it is?

Alternatively it could be based on, say, the top 100 games of 2005 so far in which case a number of those listed won't be included.

At this point, I'd agree. At least the Rockman remakes should be hitting PS2 and possibly GameCube as well. Same for Goku Makaimura... I just don't see PSP sustaining sales for those titles, I doubt any of them break 50k.

And yeah, EXE6 should be DS/GBA multiplatform to help ease the series transition to DS. I suspect EXE6.5 will likely go to DS instead (and bomb just like EXE4.5 GBA and EXE5.5 DS).

In Japan? No chance... looking at other franchise sales in ports to PSP, International/Substance/Final Mix style rereleases or late GC to PS2 ports I'd say...

Biohazard 4 (PS2)~ 350k
DMC3 Special Edition~ 200k
Monster Hunter Portable~ 150k

...cracking 1 million for these games would the extreme best case scenario.
