serious question.... Could Serena be competitive with Federer?

It'll take time until women catch up to a degree with men, they've only been allowed to compete in sport relatively recently.

What? That's not right mate. Wimbledon has had ladies tennis since 1884. Lawn tennis, backyard tennis, local competitions, tennis clubs and more have basically always had women playing.

The shit they had to wear however was not equal to the men, fucking corsets to play tennis in.

Women's tennis was also introduced at the Olympics in 1896 -

Seen them both in person and watched their matches.
She’s built like a tank and looks sexy in person.
What’s interesting is men tennis players are skinny as fuck, almost like wow that’s weird.
Serena would lose against Roger. Now prime Serena, she could may have a chance against randoms

Ultra endurance competitions possibly

I did a lot of triathlon races and in no way woman can compete there.

Also boxing, some random nobody vs legendary female boxer that decked every other female way above the female league

Jup goes exactly as you would expect. Now imagine mike tyson standing in that ring. Instant graveyard stone.

Random pros? Or random men off the street? I doubt she could beat a D1 tennis player.

Chess

But more seriously there are separate categories for a reason - there are biological diffrences (testosterone level etc) coming from thousands years of evolution that cannot be changed in a span of years.
Actually there's a weird, known phenomenon that men significantly outperform women in chess. A read an article on it once and it was pretty strange. I think like 2 of the top 100 players are women or something.

Young prime Serena could move on the court and has a big serve. Easily best randoms off the street. Now a random D1 tennis would be competitive. I think she could beat some. The question I would have is how many sets. 3 or 5
Main difference I’ve noticed watching matches in person of men vs women is the power and speed of the ball the men can hit.

I think it just speaks to the differences inherent in men and women especially at the ends of the distribution.

best female tennis player of all time but she would lose 6/0 6/0 and if forced to play another set as the men have to another 6/0.

anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded.

leads to fear. Fear leads to xbox.
I dont think in our history has a woman athlete bested a male. Its basic biology and men athletics is just always a bar higher than females. Not saying female athletes arent good but there is a difference. If there wasnt we wouldnt split it up by gender in the first place.

Watching women play tennis is like watching men play in slow motion

Federer is used to the flow of playing against people that are let's just say 30% faster at serving, hitting, and moving. Not only is he used to it, he's one of the greatest of all time at it.

Why would then playing someone where the flow is slowed down across the board not seem like literal child's play.

If he was trying at a normal 100% I don't expect much scoring for Serena aside from unforced errors and serving faults.

I think Nadal on clay vs Serena would be even more ridiculous.

Never. And I'm sure it's been posted, she would agree with me. You either don't actually play or watch a lot of tennis or just like posting clickbait

I think ultra-marathon is the only sport where it has been observed that women have a tiny advantage over men (200 miles+ runs). Other than that I don't know.

She actually did. I started kickboxing last year so I was slightly interested by the video posted. Let's just say that 'a man' is a slight understatement:

Her only defeat in a kickboxing ring was in an exhibition match at Sporthallen Zuid in Amsterdam in October 1994, when she fought male Muay Thai champion Somchai Jaidee, (the then reigning Muay Thai Australasian champion), who knocked her out in the second round.

Despite what the english wikipedia claims, that guy was an amateur. Nobody knows him except for the fact that he knocked "the greatest female fighter ever", he's a nobody that the promoters of the fight tried to sell as a "champion" to make it more exciting.

In his Facebook page says he works as a plasterer since 1994 (the date of his fight). He also has 4 followers on Twitter.
