Shadow Of Rome - Capcom Creates Magic Yet Again

I Just got my hands on Shadow Of Rome demo for the PS2 and its a doozy. The game is loaded to the brim with hardcore violent acts for you to dish out on your opponents. There something to be said for a game that allows you to cleave an 8 foot tall monster of a man in half with a sword twice the length of your body. Or if you prefer you can sever his arm and beat him to death with it. Or cave his head in with a spiked mace. Its all good when you raise his bloody head to a roaring crowd to recieve praise and roses and even bigger weapons. This game owns and will get your blood pumping. Just be sure to make them beg for their lives before you drive the gladius home. And smile for the crowd...

I'm sort of interested... but the horror stories that I keep hearing regarding the game's stealth sequences make me a little leery.

What does it offer beyond the ultraviolence?

Sweet clean gameplay only Capcom could create and responsive controls to match. Oh and theres a story in there... somewhere.

This thread is suspicious.

It's too positive. I don't like it.

We'll get to the bottom of this...

Wait. Its suspicious that I dig the game? I have to post negative points as well? I must have missed that in the forum rules page.

Do you work for a magazine or website, Sirris? Think carefully about your answer. ;)

If he does, that means I should be Editor-in-Chief of my own gaming rag. Hell, I'll even dub Sirris the "Craig Kilborn of game journalism" if he answers in the affirmative. If Craig gets a late night TV show, I should have one too; if Sirris gets a sweet gig at a professional mag/website, I should have one too. :)

No, but that would be cool. Frankly I'm amazed at how suspect this suposedly is. Would it have been better if I wrote: "Yo dudes. This game roxorz. Its hella bloody. You guys gotta see it man. Its trippin." I mean come on! And yes, IMO Capcom makes some of the best games out there. This game looks to be the start of another cool franchise.

Sirris, discussing unreleased (as in pirated) games will get you banned here. Just a heads up.

Damn :( No, I think people just expect completely retarded posts from junior members. When a junior member makes a post that isn't a blatant attempt trolling, fanboyism, or a new way to integrate 'lolz' into a sentence, people tend to get suspicious.

Really when you post a sentence that unbelievably retarded, how exactly do you expect people to take you seriously? Sounds like a quote from the back of a capcom game box.

either way, could you elaborate more? i dont understand what this game is about? and it controls like DMC im assuming.

I want to believe! As it's the Oni2 team developing it and Oni2 rocked.

But it was slow and clunky at E3 IMO, and Capcom + Stealth = ?. Still...

I shall buy this game because it looks fun, and Capcom's fictional takes on history have been magnificent to say the least.

Hey look! A valid non suspicious question! Its a Christmas miracle!

The game plays like a old school brawler. The only game that comes to mind I can compare it to is the DC game Berserk. There are no super flashy Dante moves. Its all grounded, no arial flash. Depending on how you push the stick in tandom with how long you press the button gives you the designated move. It works rather well. But theres lots of weapons and armor to pick up and you have to be careful not to break your weapons too. As for what its about, from what I can tell its grounded in some history. But honestly I wasn't paying much attention to all that.

...wtf? What are they teaching at school these days?

How much of the gameplay revolves around stealth? In the recent batch of screens Capcom released most of them were of the main character either sneaking or looking around a corner.

Did they end up putting that feature in where the better you are at stealth or combat the more missions in it you get? So if you suck at the stealth stuff you play less of it...i think that was this game

Wow what a nasty thread. Demo is available at local EB's. GAF craziness abound. Game looks great though go pick up the demo.

Becareful Lyte Edge being an accusatory A-hole can get you banned.
