Shame the troll didn't get caught. It's annoying that good rewards were taken by troll backers until so close to the end.

Yeah absolutely no fear for this now. Incredible. Thing is, unless Shenmue 3 turns out to be an absolutely disastrously designed game, or is mega delayed, I see no reason why the same people who backed this wouldn't pony up some cash in advance for Shenmue 4, 5 etc. Hopefully it sells well to the gaming community as a whole and funds future games itself. But we're always here to help.

I'll personally try and fund something like £5 a month towards Shenmue if they make that possible until it nears completion. I have no qualms about doing that whatsoever!

I hadn't considered some mean spirited person could actually do this and withhold these from the real fans. Surely Kickstarter should look into this, and say, maybe a day before the KS ends contact these backers and manually go through payment confirmation in advance or something, so if they really aren't serious then someone who is might still get a chance to buy it.

Yea, I think beyond a certain amount, backers should be required to put down a percentage deposit or something, which they'll lose if the cancel their pledge later. Ain't nobody likely to pay $500+ just to hold the $10k tier from others.

So what do y'all think the final crowdfunding gains will be when all's said and done? I imagine post-KS funding will push it over $6.5 million, maybe even $7 million, which I think is the last stretch goal that I'd really, especially care to see.

Can't imagine much more than $7 or $7.5.

But I think it's fine now. Frankly, $6.3m is probably good enough. It gives Yu Suzuki a tremendous amount of leverage to take back to investors to get more manpower (if/when he needs it) without giving up too much equity of the profits after release. 69k preorders is a hell of a drug.

Every bit counts, of course. But Shenmue is saved.

Suzuki's genuine passion and feeling is the most important element and that was demonstrated time and time again.

What a month....phew....

I shall monitor Awesome Japan's website to see when they will advertise the fact that they managed the most successful gaming kickstarter of all time.

him walking up to the camera with the bust and going "hey i'm ryo hazuki!" made me laugh.

great stream, bar the technical difficulties and one translator being far worse than the other. nice new information revealed, and yu crying at the end was really sweet actually.

the way some people have been going on about shenmue 3's funding have made him out to be a shifty guy, but really he's just someone who wants to finish his greatest work and satisfy all the fans who put their trust in him for so long to make it happen.

Guys! It was an absolute pleasure. NOW we need a Shenmue celebration day, a day where we do nothing but celebrate our success with the kickstarter by playing shenmue, drinking, talking about it with friends, family, and erverywhere and anywhere online. The month of this Shenmue kickstarter campaign has been insane! An incrediblel rollercoaster that I am so happy to be part of so now we should all celebrate.

So what day? Tomorrow (Sunday)? Next week Friday?
