Sweet. Looks like Dynasty Warriors. :P

Can anyone translate the text in thsese scans?

Sure, it says "More of the same? YOU BET!!" :lol

Looks nice...I take it the characters shown are new? I definitely like the designs that are being shown so far.

Just ordered the PSP Shinsangoku Musou, BTW. I read on Gamefaws that there are generals from Sengoku Musou (Samurai Warriors) that some people are finding!

Prices are dropping. :) My co-worker just won an eBay auction for the PSP and *four* games for $485. I couldn't believe that someone would sell the system for under $300, and it was a first-time lister, so I told him to be very cautious, but prices in general are going down anyway.

Looking forward to trying the game out and hoping I don't kill my square button. ^_^;

Here's the text from Gamefaqs:

In all, there seems to be 42 playable characters, perhaps more. I got a sub-captain from "Sengoku Musou" (Samurai Warriors in the US?) named O-Ichi. This leads me to believe that there might be playable characters from Sengoku Musou.

Links are dead. They work now, that's weird. What exactly is this game? Dynasty Warriors 5? The 4 does not compute.

We are a number ahead that's why

Dynasty Warriors = Sangoku Musou
Dynasty Warriors 2 = Shin Sangoku Musou
Dynasty Warriors 3 = Shin Sangoku Musou 2
Dynasty Warriors 4 = Shin Sangoku Musou 3

and etc

Can't see anything in those links. I wonder if they will finally make Cao Pi a character? He is Zhen Ji's husband and Cao Cao's heir, after all.

koei in terms of dynasty warriors = ea sports in terms of the sports updates every year.

dynasty warriors 5 looks like the third to me. man, koei should bring the series to a higher technically level, these game looks really outdated.

Wait I'm not getting anything damnit.

Cut and paste those links into another browser window. You'll see them.

Models and enviroment are more detailed than Dynasty Warriors 3. If you look at some DW3 pics here you can see where improvements have been made:

http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/016/016328/imgs_2.html

But DW5 is still based on the same core technology as DW3. I wouldn't expect a big jump, technology wise, until next generation dynasty warriors.

I want to know about the new features and possibly modes which DW5 has. Someone give us a synopsis of those pages to see if any new info is posted! :D

The characters shown are Cao Pi (new character, the brother of Cao Ren who seems to use a similar weapon), Xiahou Dun (old Wei), Zhao Yun (old Shu) and Sun Ce (old Wu).

This game SHOULD have at least one new character for each side, otherwise it's an even bigger ripoff than before. Strange that they show old ones instead.

This is a March release, right? I barely touched DW4 Empires...time to get cracking. :)

Yeah it looks like new info is coming out next Friday according to the website.

Check out this character art!

Double sword sweet! :D

Say what you will about this game not improving but I'm about to post some screenshots I've found and man does this game really look pretty damn good!

March 2005 I can't wait! :D

Don't know if the info is correct, but from what I've read about that double sword you can use it together as one sword or pull them apart and use them seperately!

Admittedly, I haven't played EVERY iteration of this series, but this stuff looks the like...well, are they adding anything new to make this series worth it? I mean, I played through DW4 and SW to death, but they got pretty damn old.

I dunno, something about the character design and background/colors looks a lot more appealing to me this time around.

...Or maybe it's just because I'm too used to Samurai Warriors and it's incredibly dull use of color. :)

It isn't your eyes, dude. It looks like Omega Force decided to add color to the game. No more greys and browns only all over the place? An end of an era?!?!

I liked Samurai Warriors, but overall I hope it isn't too influential on future DW games...too dark and murky. And the character models seemed to suffer. This stuff looks better, I like the brighter feel.

I would add more constructive opinions and similar crap, but it's a Dynasty Warriors game and I'm going to buy the damn thing no matter what, so.....fuck it.

Samurai Warriors has a darker atmosphere, but also better effects. I believe the view is also a bit more zoomed it. Took me some time to get used to but i loved it eventually. Anyway, KOEI can really do no wrong when it comes to DW, just make new characters and new missions and i'll be happy.

All right finally found a translation of the text in the Famitsu scans:

I read through the new magazine scans and its mostly character profiles, so I'm not going to bother to translate that. The only new information is the new gateway system in the middle part of page 2.

New Gateway System
There will be three different types of gateways in the DW5, which is classified as Attack, Defense, and Recovery. The Attack gateway is very similar to the old gateways but more troops will flood out of these compared to the other types. Some attack gateways may spawn a large amount of archers as well. The Defense System as the name suggested is focused on defense. These gateways does not spawn as many troops as the attack gateways but they will come at you in formations, in addition large amount of archers will shoot at you from the formation's sides and rear, so that you cannot take these gateways quickly. Recovery Points are somewhat special. The troops defending these points varies and there are more wooden boxes in these points than others, if you're at critical health, come to these points to recover your strength.
I might as well translate the part on the new graphic engine as well.

The Draw distance has been extended

From the beginning, players of the DW series has been plagued by LAG whenever there's a large amount of troops on screen, reducing the excitement of the battle. The creators of DW have addressed this issue in DW5. In this new chapter even when there's a large amount of troops, there won't be a situation with LAG and that the draw distance has been extended as well. In addition, there will be new weather effects and day to night change.
Note: Under one of the screenshot it boasts that there won't be lag during multiplayer.

When he is talking about lag I'm assuming he means the slow down in two player mode. So draw distance has been increased and slowdown has been reduced! The gateway system sounds cool too. More info should be released on Friday.
