First game that ng.dev have done that doesn't look like complete amateur hour. They seem to be improving their product which is a good sign.

IIRC Zanac got a lot of hate on NES for the limited power ups. I love the game though. Need to sink more time into that PS1 remake.

Welcome to ng.dev productions. That's why I said they are improving, not that their games look anything other than homebrew. For a shmup. there doesn't need to be a lot of innovation - if it controls and plays well, that'll be more than good enough.

I don't think GunLord suffered from any of those gripes. That's why XYX looks to be what I said - a step back.
I guess I have higher standards. There are too many shmups to play for me to waste time with ones that bring nothing new to the table. Doesn't have to be a gimmick, just has to do something well. Not seeing that yet with XYX, but I'll find out when my copy arrives.

Played a bit of this at E3 - it's bananas. Hope it comes over to next gen platforms - I'm sort of done buying games on XBLA, and I fear it's being sent out to die.

I'm not a fan of NGev.Team either, or doujin stuff in general. Doujin stuff needs to be brilliant to hold my attention, and nothing they've ever done seemed interesting.
Nice! Can't wait for the DC release. Those with MVS copies are lucky.

They purchase their reproduction Neo Geo AES cases from a guy who has ripped off the Neo community in the amount of tens of thousands of dollars. They also claim that those cases are original SNK product when they are not.

So hyped for this game - my Dreamcast is getting a lot of great shooter love this year. Neo XYX will a great way to close out 2013. (Assuming it ships on time).

it's been a long while since i played it, but since i'm sure there is some sort of homing weapon you can cheese through an entire level with like most other vert shooters from that gen.
Update on Neo Xyx, a couple of us are beta testing the first patch after a few bugs came to light mostly with sprite priorities, nothing too scary. Pleased to report the 1.1 patch fixes all the ones I'd identified, there will be a proper 1.2 patch after Japanese location testing.
