First two levels of NEO XYX as the game is out on MVS

Definite 90's Toaplan feel !
I'm glad I got the Dreamcast version Pre Ordered .
Game will be available for DC and NeoGeo MVS and AES .
First game that ng.dev have done that doesn't look like complete amateur hour. They seem to be improving their product which is a good sign.

You ever play Gunlord? That was their turning point imo.
I actually think this looks like a step back from GunLord.
In what way?
Background art is bland, uninspired, nearly static. Gameplay looks bare-bones simplistic, and not in a good way.
Welcome to ng.dev productions. That's why I said they are improving, not that their games look anything other than homebrew. For a shmup. there doesn't need to be a lot of innovation - if it controls and plays well, that'll be more than good enough.

I guess I have higher standards. There are too many shmups to play for me to waste time with ones that bring nothing new to the table. Doesn't have to be a gimmick, just has to do something well. Not seeing that yet with XYX, but I'll find out when my copy arrives.
We don't talk much about run-n-guns but Super Time Force is looking like it will be good fun.

(not to mention they support thieves)
What's this now?
What's this now?
Not even Crimzon Clover?Come for the games, stay for teh drama.
I'm not a fan of NGev.Team either, or doujin stuff in general. Doujin stuff needs to be brilliant to hold my attention, and nothing they've ever done seemed interesting.
Posted in the other thread, but Neo Xyx is great, been playing it today and it's significantly better than the old trailers suggested.

They purchase their reproduction Neo Geo AES cases from a guy who has ripped off the Neo community in the amount of tens of thousands of dollars. They also claim that those cases are original SNK product when they are not.
I just wanna play games, man.
So hyped for this game - my Dreamcast is getting a lot of great shooter love this year. Neo XYX will a great way to close out 2013. (Assuming it ships on time).
Dat bobcat bomb.
Not even Crimzon Clover?

Brand new video courtesy of Ghegs:
He's playing it in yoko mode for this video since some people at neo-geo.com were asking, which makes it a little more Youtube friendly and you can see more detail.
Neo XYX - a few credits later
I just wanna play games, man.
Is there a comprehensive list of shooters on 3DS? Any recommendations? I think I'll get Recca, but what else?
Gunlord looked incredible for a Neo Geo game.
Slim pickings. I think this is all of them:
Chain Blaster
Galaxy Force (Sega 3D)
Gradius NES
Recca Fami
Space Harrier (RnG, Sega 3D)
Twinbee (3D Classics)
Xevious (3D Classics)
Kokuga (iffy for the genre)
Forthcoming:
Karous: TBOR:E (Jan, 2014)
Steel Empire (TBD)
Shmup game in the new Gamecenter (Jan, 2014)
Good run-down.
There's also this which shmups twitter had up the other day:

Mostly a sort of dog-fight esque shooter, but some of the bosses remind me of Ketsui or Under Defeat.
GAF...help me actually manage to finish stage 1 of Super Star Soldier on Vita. What's the best weapon to use to get past this stage with ease?
