Made the mistake of going to Reddit to see if there were any additional updates there.
Never making that mistake again. WTF society you're better than this :/

Jesus at that Tomi Lahren tweet. Too bad this Dallas shooter(s) couldn't have targeted her and blew her worthless fucking head off instead of this chaos. Shouldn't say that, I guess, but that's so sickening, so so sickening.

I understand the reaction, but please don't do that. You're better than that.

Goddamn this is absolutely terrifying.

This is hitting so close to home since I'm in that area a lot for work.

Even worse is that Dallas PD was actually supporting the protest.
This makes it really horrifying.

Dallas PD being there and supporting the protests is one of the things that is needed. Bring both sides together in peace within a community. The cynicism of posters saying that there wasn't any sort of positive before the shooting is sad.

Crazy. Absolutely crazy.
That weapon doesn't sound like something you'd be able to easily conceal in a protest, but given the chaos, I'm going to wait until the dust clears.
Nah, from the scanner, it sounds to me, that they came by car then shot from buildings close to the protest.

I think they mean that the police that were targeted were actually taking part in and supporting the protest, which makes this even sadder.
Worse as in "the Police were assisting/supporting the protests" so its awful they got shot while coming alongside the community.
I agree, wholeheartedly.

I think I misinterpreted your original post, jongkookie, I apologize.

I was making progress with this story among some of my more...uneducated family. Now all they will care about is how BLM is violent and killing cops, even though that is not what happened here. It will dominate the conversation.

We need to call this like it is:

This is another mass shooting, the shooters clearly just used this protest as a way to try to take out as many targets as possible. This shooting shows once again that the US and it's love of guns puts EVERYONE in danger. We can't let them spin this against BLM or black right of protest.

Damn not easy being a police officer, imagine putting your life at risk every day when you dont know who you are dealing with.

Please stop giving Tomi any attention. She's going to pander to her fanbase. It's what she does. I know she'd be on of the first people to say some idiotic shit.

This. She is a trash human and should be ignored as such.

This shooting has nothing to do with BLM but you better believe the media will try to link them forever. So predictable.

Based on reports of protests in several major cities across the US, on-duty #LVMPD officers will be working in pairs until further notice.

"I don't like your words. Too bad someone didn't shoot you in the head."
People wonder why the world is so screwed up...

DART officers? Dallas Area Rapid Transit? Do these morons even know that they are not even shooting real cops? These dudes prevent people from getting on the bus without paying.

The Dallas subreddit has lots of good real time info, no way to verify it but most of the stuff the news is reporting is posted there first

Three DART officers have been shot in downtown, per Asst VP Communications & Community Engagement for Dallas Area Rapid Transit tells CNN

I came in the middle of this live CBS stream.....but it seems that one of the witnesses was saying the suspect was in a busted cop car? Is this true or I just came in at a weird time?

Yeah.

Dallas PD has always been supportive of protests like these and it was one of the cool things to see, that despite all the bullshit, our community is still together.

But of course somebody had to fuck it all up.

I agree, wholeheartedly.

It's all good man.

There's no way to prevent it, though. I can talk about how this was messed up until I'm blue in the face, but supporting protests like this from now on (even though the cops were supporting it as well) will be viewed as supporting cop killers by some people.

Get ready for Facebook memes with all the officers who (Lord forbid, please pull through) died, with BLM claimed as their murderers. I'm just so disgusted right now.

Again those people were always going to view you in that light regardless of this event. You can't worry about what those people think or believe. They are just looking for any reinforcement to vilify a group of people.

Sounds like there was a busted cop car involved judging from this account and another witness interview on KTVT, but no one has pieced together exactly what happened.

Sadly, you're right. I refuse to believe that BLM had anything to do with this, they know that this is not the way to get things done. But it's going to be all over everything because it happened at a BLM event.

Most reports are the police were being fired on from above first at a multi level parking garage. Now they have a suspect cornered in the Bank of America tower

What happens if the guns were brought legit?
What if they were assholes wanting to kill protestors/cops?
What's the impact gonna be like?
Who's to blame?

So many ways and all I feel are gonna be really crappy.

My friend who was/is trapped said on Facebook "if anything happens to me y'all know I fought for the cause. I love y'all."

She's such a sweet girl I hope she's just nervous and nothing is actually happening involving her
