We definitely use that world freely compared to Americans, but I have personally rarely ever seen it used in a friendly greeting way. The only time I have seen that is when someone has called me a 'Silly cunt' in a jokey fashion, when I have done something quite dumb.

Nah if we are going to drop English we should go with Spanish. Already spoken by a sizeable percentage of the population and aligns with the majority of the Americas. I don't even speak it, but what I remember from HS Spanish is that the spelling and rules make infinitely more sense than the pile of shit language that is English.

I always got an impression English is so prevalent because it is dead simple to learn, there are no super complicated rules and everything kinda flows together. Mind you it is also a very descriptive language - as a comparison French has very specific phrases and vocabulary that serve to easy distinguish the level of education of a person that you are speaking with.

I was just thinking about this the other day as I was binge watching through Netflix. The English language is now essentially a language that is being directed and repurposed by the people of the United States, who are much more numerous and influential than our English cousins.

So I think at this point in time it would probably be better if the language was renamed American or North American to signify the difference in our modern day parlance and how it is the United States that represents the language the most.

What do you think?
