I simply don't care about game pass. Im not saying its shit or a terrible idea, just for me personally its not something I care for nor would I bat an eye if it were to go away.
This is entirely anecdotal but I typically know what games I want to play month to month. Usually my year is pretty much figured out early on as to what I'm looking forward to. To fill in the gaps in between I usually play Destiny 2 or a backlog title, to which there are many.
I bought Sea of Thieves, Gears 5,and Horizon 3 regardless of them being on gamepass. Why,I dont know, value proposition to me made me feel personally like I value the game more having purchased it, dumb I know.
Plus what's good for one company may not be good for another. I think Microsoft did gamepass as a way to keep itself afloat late gen cause let's be honest, there wasn't a whole lot going 1st party wise that was exactly setting the world on fire. Sony doesn't have this issue so it doesn't make sense for them to throw games that are selling millions of copies @ $60 a pop onto a subscription service devaluing the game.
I have friends with kids who use gamepass as a means to keep them entertained cause they'll see something goofy or random and want to play it,so I see the positives of the service. Or if you're strictly a Xbox exclusive player and maybe dont have funds to buy games as often as you'd like gamepass is a great option.
For me, I dont play hundreds of games a year, I know what I like and I'll just continue to buy the amount of games I'd typically buy in a year and be just fine.
