Should the LucasFilm logo have a full fanfare?

With the digital releases of the Star Wars saga, a fanfare was created for LucasFilm (the logo itself was still the one that was introduced with the 1997 Special Editions). The fanfare to me seems very temporary, as it is a cut-up version of music from the finale of TESB's end credits. Now, I have a feeling the fanfare won't be the same fanfare that plays alongside the new updated logo (which was introduced with the TFA trailers) as most movie logos are longer. The reason the LucasFilm logo tended to be shorter is because it was a secondary logo after the Twentieth Century Fox logo (with the LucasFilm logo containing the conclusion of the Fox fanfare). With no Twentieth Century Fox logo for it to follow, I think the logo will need a fuller fanfare than we got with the digital releases of Star Wars. My personal opinion is it should be a new recording from someone (hopefully John Williams) and not use Star Wars music, as that fanfare would not make much sense for Indiana Jones if it uses Star Wars music (unless the fanfare is tailored for a per movie basis). Once the Marvel movies became 100% Disney productions (the last with Paramount involvement was Iron Man 3), a new, bombastic logo was created to replace the much shorter Marvel Studios logo. Will LucasFilm get the same treatment?

is this the bottom of the star wars barrel

IF IT IS, I'M SCRAPING IT.

Here's the three alternates I came up with when the digital editions came out and the fanfare attached to them didn't sound right

#1 - A re-edit of what Lucasfilm was trying to do.

#2 - Going for the same tone with a different piece of music.

#3 - Completely different tone with two different pieces of music

I like #3 the best, myself.

But more than likely they got Williams to write something completely new.

Rapid and subdued harp glissandos with violas and violins holding a tremolo are just fine for me. I always imagined it as a quiet, mysterious logo with its ghostly shimmer.

Something like #3 would be great. That works really well. A lot better than the one they went with the for the digital editions.

Star Wars is the new Marvel lol.

I love it.

Someone needs to make a new photoshop with Star Wars as its own forum.

But on topic, I really miss the 20th Century fanfare. But the third one Bobby posted is decent.

Will they put in the 20th Century Fox fanfare for old time's sake?

C'mon, you know you want it.

I was just thinking about this after watching the Original Starwars films. It will be disconcerting to watch a Starwars film without the "duh de daahhh" and the searchlights :-( Obviously it isn't a deal breaker, but I know I will miss it.

There is a solution to all this. I think it is only fair that Disney show how fully committed they are to the Starwars universe. So I propose that Disney buy 20th Century Fox just so they can use the fanfare at the beginning. Anything less is just sacrilegious.

(this is a light humoured post and at no point do I seriously entertain the idea Disney would spend billions just to get the fanfare, so don't quote me to start some argument over it).

Not even close.

I liked the shimmery thing they did with the second teaser. It's understated and not distinctly Star Wars - so they can use it when they reboot Indiana Jones.

Maybe, but it would need to be longer. No primary studio logo has ever been that short.

Hells YES I want it. If you buy the complete soundtracks, it's on there.

Also, Williams composed the Star Wars score in the same key, so that the fanfare really seemed like an intro to the movie specifically.

I wonder how Disney/Lucasfilm will handle the intros to the Indiana Jones films. No more Paramount mountain.

I'd use both the Disney castle and the Lucasfilm logo, with the start of Binary Suns in the background. Fade to black, followed by "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..."

Lucasfilm's films are not being marketed as Disney films, similar to the Marvel films.

I never understood why people cared about the logos of companies before the movie
I personally don't care for it all that much, but I do find it somewhat concerning when the original logo fanfare is removed and replaced with a modernized version for a homevideo release. Logo fanfares are a part of film history.

I like the last one better, but it depends on how the movie starts, to be honest.
