Alienware is a terrible company, but it would take too much time to explain why I've got one so I won't.

Chittagong, that TV stand looks pretty flimsy. I'm not even sure if that is a TV stand, but a TV like that needs something a little bit more sturdier, or nicer looking at least.

yep. it's temporary... I'm getting something cooler shortly. It's actually a sofa table.

Dishonest technical and customer support is a big part of it too.

I'll be the first to say I'd be the happiest person in the world if Alienware ever goes down. Too bad people fall for their image.

Wait, you put your surround speakers in front of your couch ? oO

They're on the side, not on front, the perspective might be fooling you. They are pretty much on the ear level, dunno if they should be further back. But they definitely are not in front of the sofa.

Perspective is a tricky bitch :lol

Anyways, for 5.1 systems, rear speakers should form a 90 to 110 degrees angle.

That is, if you draw a line between you and your TV, and one between you and a rear speaker, it should form a 90 to 110° angle. Dunno if I'm clear :(

They're now positioned at 90˚ exact, but they might benefit of being a bit more back I guess to go for 100˚ at least...

Changed some stuff around. Right side of the tv is a kinda messy with the cables but normally my guitar is standing there with the amp so you don't see much of it.

Sitting place:

Next to the couch is an white table. Got some Phillips Ambient lights on it which are nice.

Behind the blue couch is my kitchen.

Rest of the room and behind the closet is my pc corner and little chill spot with a fatboy.

Ideally it should look like that

BTW, rear speakers direction can differ, according to different manufacturers. Some will say the better is to point towards the central speaker, others to point towards you. I guess it's a metter of preference tho.

Speaker positionning is often underestimated. It truly can degrade immersion if it's badly done. And it's generally not explained at all ni users manual. They give you explainations about some crazy options that you'll probably never use, but don't explain this basic and important stuff :lol

Any tips for hanging the rear speakers on the wall? I live in a small apt and will have to put my 2 rear speakers on either wall. BTW, it will be 7.1 but I don't think there's enough room to make good use of all the speakers.

It's a bit different for 7.1 systems. Best, if you can, is to put two speakers pointing towards you and being hung on side walls, with a 90° angle. Rear speakers should be put completely behind you, at a reasonnable distance, and the distance between them should be equivalent to the size of your couch.

Oh, and rear speakers should always be positionned a lil bit higher than your sitting position, between 1 and 1.5 meter is optimal (that's why most stands are usually around this height)

Nice place. Where do you live? Rent or own?

Took some fresh pictures for a Finnish magazine today. Added a couple of pics from last year, too.

LOL....your place is setup almost exactly like mine. Same colors , same placement, same wood floors, but I have a light sand colored leather sofa instead of the futon.

samsung 4665f 1080p lcd
KEF 5.1 speaker system
Panasonic digital amp/receiver

Did you get the white cabinet on the right at ikea? And I applaud your use of plants...I havent gotten mine yet. Oh, even our windows are the same, but mine are only on the left.

Will post photos soon.

Haha, that's pretty crazy, looking forward to seeing it. Cabinet is from Muurame (www.muurame.com).

I have a nice setup, but the problem is I live in an old home that was built in the 50's. I also live semi-close to an airport and at the end of my block on the otherside of the swimming pool is the 401. So, there is so much dust and no matter how much you clean it never goes away. If I clean and dust my place, by the time I am finished and sitting down, it's full of dust again, like tons of it. It's horrible. Using Hepa(sp?) Vacuum, filters on the heating, central air and return air, brand new windows and had all the vents, ducts and pipes in the place cleaned out and still massive amounts of dust.

So, what I am getting at is I am pretty envious of how dust free some of the setups are :lol. Hopefully I will be moving into a new place at the end of the summer and I will be able to take a picture without it looking like it just snowed.

No way... completely disagree. I love the look of the TV on a simple, non-obtrusive stand like that. Support-wise the choice of that stand could be argued, but looks wise I think it's great.

TV: Pioneer 50'' 507XA plasma
Games: Wii, chessboard
Receiver: Harman/Kardon AVR 435
DVD: Harman/Kardon DVD 25
Front speakers: Audio Vector MI3 Super
Back speakers: Audio Vector MI1 Super
Carpet: Nanimarquina Flying Carpet. It's a carpet and recliner in one!

Have to get a nice rack for the AV equipment, but I haven't found anything I like enough, so I'll probably get something built.
