Show us your gaming setup: 2007 edition

Snagged it last week when it was on sale for $499. Bought a simple, solid-wood stand for it at Ikea with room for multiple systems. Tomorrow I'm adding the Saturn and Dreamcast to the setup. It's not the epic, mind-numbing leap some have made HD out to be, but it's very nice indeed. I can read all of the text, even the wall of fine print that precedes Bioshock! Colors are clear! Maybe clear enough that I can beat Luxor 2 now.

Late this year, probably early next I'll get surround sound. But visually at least, I'm ready for Halo 3. :D

Got this tv too at 449 price tag thanks to AAA 10% off coupon at circuit city. My roomates and I love it.

LOL, I'm just saying. It's pretty easy to pinpoint a typical filipino household especially if you're filipino yourself (me included). If Kadey is filipino in anyway, then lol.

Nope, something like 1%. I was there though, my parents speak it a little.

I posted this in the Wii setup thread, but it is kind of an all-purpose picture showing off my new TV.

The only thing missing is my charcoal green Sumo beanbag, which is on its way as we speak!
I couldn't help but notice that trombone picture up there. Are you a bone player? Also you guys are freakin neat, I'll have to clean up before I post pics:lol :lol .

Are those two speakers handmade? By which I mean did you build them yourself?
Yes I made them myself. One of these days I'll actually make them look pretty but since they are finished otherwise it's never been a high priority. They've looked like that for years.

Isn't that a little dangerous to have all your video games and stuff at the windows?

I PRAY that you don't get ROBBED!!!!

And start knocking on wood, dude!!

How did you know?

Let's just say I don't always spend my money wisely, love IKEA and have a huge debt with the IBG when I finish school.
I lived in Europe for 16 years and even I could tell it was somewhere in Europe.

I miss it. :(

I'll probably post more of my set-up later... although mine really doesn't compare to anyone's here.

ive got a question... im looking to get surround sound for my setup, should i just get a logitech 5.1 system? or are you guys just getting a real home theatre system? if i get a home theatre system, i have to get a receiver to be able to use it for my 360 and wii right?, not an upconverting dvd player that a lot of systems come with...

My dad is; I'm primarily a bass trombone and tuba player as far as brass goes. :)

Also, yeah - the windows are pretty low, but they're going to have to climb through rose bushes. Would that be worth it?

Kick ass, I played the trombone for ten years, from elementary through high school. (What a surprise I ended up here, huh?) Always good to know there are other boners out there.

Why did you leave our fair continent?

I love these 685's. B&W's tend to be a little bright for some, but i find them to have a very nice full range sound and packs nice bass. These are excellent bookshelves for the price. I had my mind on the Paradigm Studio Reference 40's, until i heard the B&W 685's. Also for the price that i got them for i can't complain :) The finish on them arent shabby either, vinyl but whatever, they look so damn real haha.

i would seriously consider these if you have been looking for some bookshelves/standmounts.
I was going to go with the floorstanding 684's, but man the 685's sounded so good, and price was much better for me :)

I currently have the B&W DM602 Series 3 (the 685's replaced these) on my PC in a Stereo setup for just straight music and 2.1 when playing PC games. I'm looking to get some 685's as fronts and using the DM602's as my rear surround speakers for my home theatre setup. I've heard very good things about the 685's and plan on listening to them at my local dealer sometime in the next couple of weeks.

and my secret stash:D

I don't mean to sound like a "rude dude" but why in the hell would you put up the Halo 3 bottles. That just seems retarded to me. I can overlook people putting up videogame-related things in their house but a SODA BOTTLE?!

I thought that Game Fuel shit was awful. Tastes like liquified Sweet Tarts.
It seems that either you like it or you hate it with an ungodly passion. I have friends in both camps but I personally think it is the best Mountain Dew (besides Baja Blast)
Edit: I put up the Halo 3 bottles because I hae other gaming related drink containers, not pictured are my set of Tekken Jones Soda bottles. It goes much deeper than just the Halo 3 stuff.

Funny, I think Game Fuel is vile, but Baja Blast is my favorite, too.

I'm gunning for most improved. I think I stand a fairly good shot, given that this was what my lounge looked like at the start of the year. What a difference a few months (and a few published pieces of industry research) can make, eh? So, to recap:

Before

After

Same house, same corner, believe it or not. For the record, the green thing is in the kitchen now, where it is full of tasty pasta and flour. Also some baking powder.

Wow that's quite an upgrade mate! I like that green thing though for some reason.. it kinda looks like something you would find at those rustic living places with a $500 price tag :)

Yo dude, it might improve your surround sound expereince by having those rear channel speakers, at the rear. :lol :lol

:lol :lol :lol

sorry
Yeah I know:lol
I don't have anything to put them on though, so until I can get something that iswhere they are staying.

I have to agree, that does look really cozy.

Good to see the Aussies putting in a showing especially with such neat setups.

This is looking great. Although I admit your green cupboard had an air of mystery about it - wouldn't be out of place in a survival horror game especially with the mysterious materials visible through the front door.

Hahah, I agree Bildi there's something about that green cupboard!

Wow Bildi that looks really nice mate. You play some guitar?
Thanks mate. Yeah, I play guitar but haven't played much at all for the last few years. That's why it's smack in the middle of the living room - I figured if I had a guitar right in front of me I might pick it up more than once every few months.

It's not working...

You play?

Thought so. Two of my friends built each a set looking almost identical to yours.

This summer they did the last bit and put on nice thin wooden panels on them. They were polishing, gluing and fixing with them for months :lol

They look great now though. I mean really nice. But it was long and hard work. They said that if they had known it would take so much time they probably would not have done it.

Just a heads up if you feel inclined to fix them up =P

Speakers and a receiver are next in line, 360 is going back. Just going to re buy it once Conviction comes out and I can get a quiet drive.

Awesome to finally get in here, let's see if I can keep it together. :lol

Dumb question, why do people keep a PS2 on display if the PS3 plays all PS2 games...

Am I wrong on that? Can't a PS3 play all PS2 games??

Please excuse the poor picture quality because I have a cheap and crappy digital camera.

Another poor Dutch Student here so definitely not an amazing setup but I can live with it.
