Show us your gaming setup: 2011 Edition

Not worried about browsing on that plasma?

It's been a year and no burn-in if that's what your talking about. I really want to get a smaller screen because games (to me) feel more intimate when your entire view constitutes the screen. With the plasma I get all this peripheral stuff and it can be detracting.

I was originally planning to get a 24 inch monitor but time came around to pay for classes and it sucked up most of my bank account. So, I had to put it on hold. The main problem is that the plasma was not designed to be a gaming monitor or t.v. shows/movie player. The blacks do not get dark enough and so everything is black and sometimes the games, movies are unplayable even with the brightness up to the max.

Been rocking this at my studio hotel room in Sweden since the TV is ancient...

Dat screen size. xD

"Almost". As hongesagatame said its an Epson TW6000 (also known as 3010 in some parts of the world, just black). But I believe it shares a lot of similar tech with the Panasonic. Just not as high end?

Ah okay, I've seen the 3010 and 5010 in person and they are rather nice units...

Hot as fuck, hope to make the house I'm buying in November look this sexy.

Thanks for the comments!! It's a condo, so somewhat i'm already pushing my limits & also have to respect my neighbors (they're pretty cool btw - no complains so far)

Regarding the floor; it's called "Satin Walnut" by Kaindl (it's a high gloss finish).....stand is from IKEA (3 Besta units with glass doors - abq was right!)

That is a wicked setup man, mind if I ask what you do for a living? I'd kill to have a house like that when I graduate.

Also, what's the point of having an Alienware laptop when you have a beast tower? I have an M17x since I can't have a tower (I live spread out across three cities in France and am currently spending over half my time abroad) until I graduate and settle down, but once I do I only want a small netbook for travelling/being lazy in bed. But yeah, kudos for the awesome setup :)

Here's mine:

Pretty happy with it considering we're just three 20 year-old students, it's awesome after two years of tiny studios, and I am going to miss it when I move out in June.

This, and the previous years threads, absolutely inspired me to actually tidy up after myself and care about my home. My wife thanks gaf for that if nothing else.
The digs some of you lot have... lovely stuff.

I'll post my gaming setup soon, fairly standard stuff really.

I love the minimalistic stuff, but also have a massive soft spot for those of you who leave their game boxes whenever they happen to be. But favourites are definately the dark arcade cabinet rooms and the apartments with wicked night time views.

Really like your apartment design. Very earthy and modern. Good stuff.

The one that sits in the chair, rules all of you.

Haha I use the chair when I'm playing serious, but most of the time the beanbag is by far the best option.

Chacranajxy, we got really lucky with the apartment. I still don't understand how it was empty for a full year before we moved in in August, it's ridiculously cheap too. For the living room we only bought the white cube, (cheap) TV stand and the TV itself (for the first few weeks it was my 21" screen there haha), the rest we got from family (and the awesome red rug was a moving in gift from a friend).

So an awesome flat under the rooftops for a very nice price, I guess that's the advantage of studying in a tinyass town. The same in Lyon or Strasbourg (not to mention Paris) would have been impossible.

Finally got a real setup after a good bit. I live in a modified shipping container way, way up in the mountains and we just recently got a stable power grid installed so I brought back a PS3 with some games.

I got a little amp for my earbuds and volume control, Move for LBP2 and Eden, and a six-button Hori pad for the fighters since my sticks are in storage. My PS3 is filled to the brim with all my PSN games from NA/Japan. The EVO monitor is surprisingly nice for $150...blu-rays look really, really good on it. Living life after doing handhelds for five months!

How is it playing Move games in a cramped space? Looks like a cozy little retreat you have made for yourself :)

Move plays perfectly fine! It is just like a Wiimote so not much space is needed for the games I have...and I like to use it to navigate the XMB. Nice and cozy, for sure. But comfy...I played through Uncharted 3 yesterday for ten hours.

YB, where do you live and do you have pics of said shipping container? I'm quite intrigued by this.

I'm near the Afghanistan/Pakistan border up in the mountains, maybe 9000 feet. Can't really post a picture of the container, not allowed. But just imagine a container you see on a big cargo ship, which is lined with a bit of plywood and insulation, and then heavily bunkered and buried since we take a lot of rockets and mortars.

Are you serious, I was at ikea last month looking for the exact type of wall unit but left empty handed. Guess I'll ask someone for that model next time I go (to bad its 2 hours away).

Do not look for it as a stand, because you'll never find it. Basically just picked some items out (BESTA) and joined them together - like LEGO

Would like to see pics of this shipping container. Sounds cool.

I'm excited for the new thread. I was gonna post my setup this year, but I didn't. I was also going to post my setup last year, but didn't. 2012 will be the year, though. Really.

Eh, who am I kidding. I live in poo.

Hopefully I'll be posting in here soon.

- getting a free 46" panasonic plasma from my girlfriend's uncle
- free receiver from gf's dad
- i have a nice set of used PSB speakers (5.1) already

and just ordered an xbox 360. Can't wait to set it all up, hopefully within 2 weeks.
