My building is the one above the Costco :)

Jesus, that looks like the future..

Kinda. It's a 70's style Mexican Strat, The US one was a bit much at the time! The one in front is a Mexican Thinline Telecaster.

Awesome, i got an olympic white with a maple neck.. mexican aswell ;) naturally.. Im not a fan of Telecasters though although i love how they look i find the neck a little to thick..but jeez some of them sound so beautiful :) In the future there should totally be a Gaf jam night..... god knows where..it would be awesome though!

Quick question for people who mount their TVs, how easy is it to remove and re-install? I plan to move in a few months, but don't know if I want to actually mount my TV now or just put it on a stand. How "messy" does it leave the wall when it's been removed?

Everyone should post some before pictures. It will encourage people that it takes time to build it up.
I dug up some older pics from previous setups.

These were obviously taken in different places.

There were changes throughout, of course (changing TVs, receivers, etc) but that's all I had on hand. Kind of fun to look back!

He has a VPI Aries. A few more pics.

I just came buckets. I'd love to sit and spin a few albums on that setup.

I move house at the end of the month so I'll add some pics once everything is in and set up.

Is than an HMZ-T1?

Damn everyone has the HMZ. What's the verdict on that thing, awesome or a waste of monies?
It's pretty awesome, but is difficult to adjust for ones face (it's uncomfortable until you find the right fit).

Very impressive piece of future tech.

If your wall is drywall with wood studs behind it then it's just 4 wood screws into the studs. If you want to move the TV then it's an easy patch and you'll never know it was there. I had to move my uncle's TV down 4 inches because my aunt wasn't happy with the height so I didn't bother patching the holes since they were still behind the TV. If you know how to use a drill you can have a TV mounted in about 5 minutes without trouble.

My main gaming room... tried to make it not-so-obvious when you walk by the door. The only thing that really gives it away is the indentation from my ass on the couch. The truth is... Xbox 360, GameCube w/ GBA player, N64, SNES, and NES all hooked up to a 37" LCD and w/ a Pioneer 5.1 HTiB ($90 shipped from buy.com a few years ago).

Not planning on changing anything soon. May get a new TV later in the year. The plasma is ill-suited for the living room due to the amount of light that comes in, so I'd like to get a ~50" LCD for the living room and move it back into the game room. With hurricane shutters on the game room window I have 100% control of the lighting in there.

I have that surround sound system! First ive seen anyone with it. Shame most of my stuff is black now!

Sorry for the bad pics, had to take it with my iPhone :).

Last year I upgraded my TV from a Sony 42 inch A10 to a Panasonic 55 ST30 and also mounted the Panny above my fireplace.

I have a Boxee Box, PS3, Wii (in a drawer underneath which has plenty of ventilation), 360, along with an Antenna and a cheap Sony receiver that does HDMI switching that I bought last year.

My roommate (who's moving out and getting married at the end of January owns the 360).

My setup:

Closer look:

Some PS3/PS2/Wii/360 games with some Blu-Rays thrown in.

Image of my couch (I used to have a huge leather sectional and it didn't fit the small size of the living room).

zKvPKl.jpg

The furniture I largely got second hand.

I really don't like the colors of my place (I bought it three years ago) and have been thinking of painting but what I really need to do is figure out the sound system. I don't want to have wires all over the place and am unsure how I'd set up the front two speakers without making it look badly.

I'm going to do some remodeling in my room, there are very good ideas here, such a shame many pictures from past threads were uploaded to tin.ypic :(

I do most of my gaming in the studio now. It's a bit messy. Oh well.

Nice. Reminds me of my room in terms of the layout you have. I also like the orange/black/white color scheme you have. Very unique.

I've been following these threads on here for years now. Finally decided to snap some pics of my setup and figure out how to work these internets.

Here's my current living room setup:

Panasonic TC-P42G10, Onkyo TX-SR605, Oppo BDP-93, fat PS3 40 gig and launch Wii.

I started out in I think 2003 buying a pair of Ascend Acoustics CBM-170s, and added HTM-200s later for my surrounds and centre. Also just upgraded my old Sony sub to a HSU VTF-2 Mk 3. :D

I like the black shelves above your desk. Where'd you get those?

Sorry for the slow response. Those are "Lack" shelves from Ikea:
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40103751/

Everything in the desk area is from Ikea actually. The desk is a "Galant", the drawer unit is the "Alex", and the shelving is the "Expedit" with "Lekman" inserts for storage.

Nice to see another Ascend user! I've got CMT-340s in the front and CBM-170s for my rears and I love them. I've got them paired with a Denon AVR2112CI and they get plenty loud while still sounding great. Also, nice sub :).

I swear to god I look forward to seeing what your basement is going to look like every year. It's my favorite part of these threads. There's like constant staples: your basement, reg's cars, Tabris' view. Glorious. LOL

2008 Setup:
Generic TV stand from Fry's
Generic A/V rack from Ikea
Coffee Table from Bo Concept
Denon 3806
Sony SXRD that died on me
PS3 launch
360 launch with HDDVD
Wii launch
Klipsch RF 35 front left/right
Klipsch RC 35 center

2012 setup:
White BDI TV Stand
Panasonic p54g25
Mac Mini
Drobo 8TB
AppleTV
Same receiver, ps3, wii, 360, etc

Sucks that I had to 'collapse' it all into 1 giant area that the kid couldn't get behind, knock down, climb on, etc but thems the breaks

I'm in Canada so the Ascends come with hefty shipping and import fees but they were worth it to me. Thinking of upgrading to CMT-340s across the front as well. Thanks, I do love that sub... especially great for music but games and movies get a little extra kick too.

Edit: Also I just took another look at your setup. Looks very similar to my future plans including the front speakers and pc-to-tv hdmi. Plus nice sub yourself; I thought that beast was a water heater at first glance!

Wait, are you THE Olly Moss? I had no idea you post on GAF...love your work!

Hit up Ikea and also got a new 70" TV mounted. Black glass top needs to go on top of cabinets and speakers MAY be reduced to a pair of Klipsh B-20s instead. Wife and i havent decided yet since the floor speakers look kinda nice up there (we didnt expect them too) i just stuck em up there for the time being till our new ones come in tomorrow. All controlled by Hamony Link remote that uses our ipad and iphones as remotes and the network in the house, its pretty damn cool and it turns the ipad into a TV guide basically with the app.

Blu-ray collection is in the shelf above TV, it holds 120 and we almost have it full....wife likes movies and collecting the ones she loves.

Sony SXRD that died on me
I loved those things. Never really had the room for a RPTV, but man, those LCOS displays looked great next to DLPs. Shame about the green blob issues that cropped up.
