Looks delicious! I'm headed to Kyoto in a few weeks. What's the name of this place? Anything else you'd recommend?
.

It's on the Shijo-Dori (street) several blocks from Yasaka Shrine.

There can be a considerable wait around lunch and dinner, but its worth it. There were three of us and I think we waited about 45 minutes for seats, but this was in late June.

Lobster and crab are better, and there are like four fishes I prefer, but yeah shrimp is awesome. It is the condiment of seafood, it makes everything better.

No.

The best flavor of the sea is seaweed.

Remember when people who liked Spam were called lazy and cheap and looters? But then GAF found out about Spam musabi and then it was cool to eat Spam!

For decades SPAM was a cheap dish eaten by uncultured. Now it's a badge of bride.

I do really adore shrimp, but if I had to choose one sea critter on flavor alone, I'd probably choose crab.

Such a delicate sweetness to the meat.

I'd definitely say shrimp is more versatile, though.

One more vote to butter/garlic shrimp.

Especially Turkish style is amazing. Chili pepper and cumin added and served boiling hot. Most amazing version of shrimp you'll ever taste.

Goddamn. Where can I get it?

Shrimp is the best, in any form. Just watch Forrest Gump and then go get anything on that list. I personally love it raw in sushi.

Even the guy in Forrest Gump didn't imagine that northern European shrimp/mayo/bread combo. He knew it was trash.

Went to an all you can eat seafood thing here in Bangkok the other day. Had some monstrous prawns. Started out looking like this:

Put them on the little table grill and they were delicious.

While I'm at it, here's the fake Boiling Crab (Shrimp Haus) I had in Santa Clarita, CA recently:
