There's all sorts of methods for taking a small segment from a movie in order to convert it to a animated gif.

I used to rip them by converting them to a small xvid file, then from jasc's animation wizard, import the video, and so on. That stuff took a while, and it was a hassle to do everytime I wanted to make a funnay gif or avatar.

I was taking screenshots from my DJ Shadow dvd for a future review, and it dawned on me. I could just put the movie on ultra slow forward (0.5 frame a sec) and just use the screenshot button non stop. Then I would import them into jasc and yadda yadda.

So anyway, it works nice, and takes 1 minute to do. Yay me, and fuck re-encoding

It works well since the average human isnt fast enough to click 23~ time a sec :lol, and youre going to lose most of those frames during the gif conversion process.

I am the master of the obvious!

Um, yeah. I'll stick to my method! Takes me about a minute as well!

Then again, I already ripped everything off my DVDs so they're compressed in XviD already.

Or you can use Bink, you can save every frame to jpg/png/bmp/gif. A lot easier than hitting a button 1000 times.

You could use VirtualDubMod (or just VirtualDub) to rip scenes from movies/shows that you want converted.
