Amazon.com has listings for upcoming compilations of the four most popular Sierra classic adventure series: King's Quest, Space Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, and Police Quest.

They will apparently be available on October 11 for $19.99 each.

Oh, and unlike the previous versions of these games, the new compilations are apparently Windows XP-compatible.

Anyone know anything about this?

I was talking to some Sierra/Whatever-they-call-themselves-now-media-conglomerate guy about the potential for releasing their old adventure games on the DS (what with the touchscreen and all), and what he said was that while the company wasn't looking into that at all, they were interested in MS's Arcade concept for the Xbox and Xbox 360 and downloading old adventure titles.

I wonder if that bodes well for the Revolution.

Yeah, I wish the "Quest" compilations would use the Apple IIgs versions but they will proabably be the IBM PC versions. The earlier Space Quest compilation that I have used the IBM PC versions.

There was the VGA remake of Larry 1 for the PC. Are you thinking of that?

Yes, the few Sierra adventure games released for the Apple IIgs were better looking and sounding than the DOS versions.

It's almost a moot point. Many of those games were given superior 256-color remakes for DOS and Mac.

I'll definitely grab the KQ collection, and I'll echo the sentiment that I would LOVE to see an XP-compatible QFG collection. I think I still have the 1-4 collection disk sitting around here somewhere... I have no clue where my disks for 5 went.
