Has problems recognising girls
Well I searched and found an older topic, but that was dealing with ticket sales in US so I thought I'd throw in my two cents.

Went and saw them in Brisbane, Australia the past Friday night and it totally blew me away. Right up the front, girlfriend was at the 1st row, I was behind and friends around us.. one of the guys we went with had the album (leaked most presumably since I am grabbing it now) and we had a chance to listen to Glósóli which is their 1st single and available to download in a week or so.

The tracklist seemed to resemble those that have been played in Euro and earlier parts of Australia. Anticipation for the damn thing was, as a friend so eloquently put it; "the wait between Amina and Sigur Rós was like a crap handjob from your girlfriend - slow and tedious." Then before they came on they dragged that white veil fabric screen with lights showcasing their shadows on it that they've been doing lately to play with on Glosoli. Two words - fucking incredible. I'm sure it made many people cry like little babies again, and then they hopped straight into Ný Batterí which surprised me since back when they first came big I thought they rarely played it but I was happy. Then they played a few new ones - not too sure exactly.

Most emotional part was when they did Njósnavélin (untitled #4), into Vaka (untitled #1) and then ended it with Viðrar Vel Til Loftárása. I was in tears and I'm sure everyone else was. Pretty sure they played Gong after that, end of set, out for an encore and Kjartan started playing the first chords of Popplagið (untitled #8) with quite a lot of cheers going up. Up the veil of fabric went back up, awesomeness reigned supreme and a chick halfway through the set yelled out something which kinda summed up the entire night, "we're not worthy!" with Jonsi giving a sly grin in his usual eyes-closed state.

Apparently they were set to play Olsen and another song in the encore but they must've skipped it and I just missed the damn set list by a grab and a half so I couldn't make sure. Other than that, it kicked so much arse.

Wow, sounds awesome. Especially with those seats! I can't wait for the Toronto show on sept 19th! I'd love to hear Ny Batteri....it's easily my favorite song of theirs...probably one of my favorites period.

Is this band any good? I heard great things about this one, a friend of mine said that their music is the closest you can get to "heavenly music" whatever the fuck he meant by that I'm interested suggestion please.

Heard a couple of songs and I'm hooked "heavenly music" alright, cool shit I like it :) . which album of them should I buy first?

Takk... is out on 9/13.

The last track on ( ) is orgasmically good. Not all-the-time music, though. I bet I've listened to all their albums, combined, a total of 10 times. Doesn't mean it's not fucking awesome-- just means it puts me to sleep, and I don't sleep very much, A BAD COMBINATION.

I really want to see the movie they scored. I'm cool like that.

Takk is very good. It's a very natural progression from ( ), but sometimes ( ) felt a bit cold and not as warm hearted as Ágætis Byrjun. Takk is a lot more playful and upbeat. It's nice to hear Gong and Milano on the record, I'm still blown away by those songs despite hearing them during Sìgur Rós' 2002 show in Chicago.

So far I'd have to say the Hoppipolla and Hoppipolla Afturabak combo are amazing. This album flows so well, it's best heard as a whole rather than a track here and there. Gong also has a nice ending with Gong Endir. The last song on the album ends so perfectly, it's very sublime. It slowly fades in and out with some soft strings and a glockenspiel. A big contrast to the loud and fast paced ending with ( ).

Can't wait to see them live in September.

The Takk artwork is very blissful. Reminds me of Múm's "Summer Make Good" album artwork with the soft, faded book cover detail.

I'm glad they're going to stop singing in Hopelandish, because that was frickin' annoying after a few songs.

Bought Ágætis Byrjun and I'm a believer now this band is the real shit, I listened to Takk and it's is also very solid, should I try ( )?

I like Bjork, so how would that relate to my disliking them? I'll make sure to listen to Takk.

Amazon has two free MP3s from them check them if you are interested.

I don't kbow about that. I mean, ( ) doesn't have anything as terrible as "Se Lest" or "Milano," plus it has like one of my top 3 Sigur Ros songs on it, "Njosnavelin." Though Takk has some stunners... namely "Gong," "Andvari, "Saeglopur," and "Hoppipolla"
