Aside from the ghost enemies I found The Room to be pretty good. It also has the best theme song...

Great entry. My favorite installment of the franchise from the PS2 era. I was initially ticked off by the inventory management change and ghost enemies draining health from afar but upon replaying it I could appreciate the high quality narrative that was loosely tied to the franchise. The way it plays out like a Japanese horror film only adds to its charm. Was never the biggest fan of series emulating David Lynch's work. My only complaint to this day is the water prison puzzle requiring tons of backtracking. Major pain the ass.

One of my favourite silent hills, being i was 14 when it came out and was shocked and excited it had the 18 bbfc. It must be disturbing as hell

Loved it,the 1st person apartment room looking out the keyhole and things changing in the room was amazing at the time,scary as hell playing in the dark too.

The last GREAT silent hill,although many would disagree I think homecoming was the last GOOD silent hill. (I imported it on ps3 before the UK release so it was extra special)

It is an important part of its design. As the hermit, you gained the knowledge and power required to protect a target of the supernatural killer. Previously you could only survive and attempt to make sense of being thrust into nightmares shared by others.

My only complaint about it are the combat system and how finicky the escort system is as well as being tied to the ending.

I went in blind a few years ago expecting the worst after all the shit it's had flung at it over the years and came out pleasantly surprised. Game is much better than most make it out to be. Much better than Homecoming and Downpour anyway, although the bar isn't really high to overcome with those I guess. I really enjoyed 4.

I think the real shame was team silents sh5, which was rumored to contain a “fear in daylight” setting and the most disturbing story they have ever come up with, which konami shitcanned to make homecoming. maybe someone will pick up the peices and make it
