I'll step in with open mind. I've always loved Sh2 and 3 but it was a long time ago, I don't think playing this new version will harm my good memories, and if they do I can always play the old ones. I, for one, support this. It doesn't look bad, at all (especially 2, looks awesome, yep greyish but as you said it's because it's not CRT).
3 is way too grey but nothing that upping my saturation levels couldn't fix

Haha it's really hard to decide, I hate EB/Gamespot A LOT and hate that they make profits off of games that the developers never see.

Why would they even do that? Just.. why. Tomm, did you guys at Konami have any idea what Hijinx were doing when they ported the games? For all the positive buzz Downpour seems to generate, the new HD collection seems to be a PR disaster in terms of fan reaction.

I still have SH2 lying around, and seeing this fiasco I'd rather buy a PS2 so I can play it again than buying this "HD"-collection.
Or did you spend all your moneys on the completely unnecessary new voice-overs that no one wanted?
I just installed both Silent Hill 2 and 3 on my laptop. This thing can barely run Half-Life 2 with low settings, yet can play both Silent Hill games perfectly at HD resolutions with everything maxed. How the fuck could they not get these running on current gen consoles? I honestly don't understand.

Damn, I'm so disappointed. Honestly, how referential is Silent Hill: Origins. Would I gain a lot by playing 2 and 3 before it. I just beat Silent Hill for the first time.
Love Plus, where they told retailers to stop selling the 3DS version because it was so buggy.

Thanks for beta testing this for me guys. Having pre-ordered this back in September (when it was meant to come out in October) and putting off cancelling it because it was cheap and I still wanted it, I just cancelled it. Delays I can understand but the stuff talked about in this thread? No. Fuck off Konami, I'll go spend my money on products people actually put effort into.

You shouldn't play 2 and 3 because they're referenced in Origins but because they're the best SH games. The series peaked with SH2.

SH 2 isn't related to the story in 0rigins, 1 and 3, so you don't need to play 2 to 'get' 0rigins. I'd recommend you to play SH 3 next, then 0rigins (if you feel like playing that one) to tie up the Alessa trilogy, and finally SH 2 since it's a self-contained story.

Just beat Silent Hill 2 for the first time in the Xbox 360 copy. The game ran fine for me, there was a second max delay before cutscenes and I encountered slowdown maybe once in the boss battle against
but it also appeared to maybe be on purpose so I'm not sure.

The 360 version generally seems to run fine, it's the PS3 version that's the worst offender. Which is hilarious, as the collection was initially announced as a PS3 exclusive.

It's more important to play SH1 than 2/3 if you wanted to go in "prepared" for SH:0. It's my least favorite of the SH games, but it's decent enough for what it is. Try to find it cheap, because it's very, very short.

The one with the swirling fog and vivid colours is the superior PS2/PC version. The one with no fog and washed-out colours is the PS2 downport.

Resolution isn't everything. I vastly prefer the look of the original games over the washed-out and non-atmospheric look of the HD-versions.
