Konami should be refunding everyone that bought this thing
Wow indeed.
This is why I look for the Bluepoint Games logo on all of my HD remakes

The one with the swirling fog and vivid colours is the superior PS2/PC version. The one with no fog and washed-out colours is the PS2 downport.

Oh, I like the HD version one without the crushed blacks moreso than the PS2 one where the light and darkness washes out any detail you can see in the picture.
Hahahahahaha!Are the PC versions of these on Steam? I can at least pick those up.
So you like the boring and non-atmospheric version. That's cool, bro. I won't judge you. (Secretly, I do)Oh, I like the HD version one without the crushed blacks moreso than the PS2 one where the light and darkness washes out any detail you can see in the picture.
Whelp... Not buyin THAT shit.

Besides this collection what other collections should be avoided?

Yes. And you are the first person who ever noticed it (I'm wearing the same Avatar and similar names on various boards).*looks at username*

Did you get your username from Bedlam in Belgium?

The fuck is this shit? Capcom better not pull this on their dmc collection.
Resolution isn't everything. I vastly prefer the look of the original games over the washed-out and non-atmospheric look of the HD-versions.
Okay, let's open a rare bottle for the occasion.I think this should be celebrated with some classic AC/DC

Okay, just to make this easier for me. I'd rather let NeoGAF decide.
I originally cancelled my order yesterday and Amazon said they'd try to redirect the order back to them. However, they're not too sure if they can due to Canada post being such a great service that always arrives on times and follows orders perfectlyaka the worst fucking postal service in the world that mess up your orders constantly
So NeoGAF if my order arrives my PS3 order arrives: Should I play the game despite all of the problems or return it? I've never played the series and I'm tempted to go the PC route.
Ah videogame "journalists".... gotta love em!Its funny how all the "official" reviews claim that the graphics are even better than ever.
I believe it's also on the SINYC single that's lying around here somewhere. Reminds me of the rare Brian songs like Down on the Borderline.That's a good one, haven't heard it in a long time. I'm partial towards Cyberspace too (it was, if I'm not mistaken, originally a single B-side, and eventually ended up on the Australian tour edition of SUL)

Edit: Whoah, just found this. Never knew that existed.
Have you played the games before, and know what they are supposed to be like? Keep the game if you want to, and play it for the trophies, or just return it and grab the PS2/PC versions.
Is it your first time playing the games? Return it and grab the PS2 or PC versions instead.

I've played the beginnings of both Silent Hill 2 and 3 at a friends, but nothing too far. But enough to know that the PS3 version is downgraded. However, I'd prefer to really play it on my TV and I don't know if I really can be bothered to go through the effort to get my PC working on the TV (need a DVI cable) and I lack a PS2 after moving country.
Sure the effects are missing, but I'd prefer to be able to experience the games despite being downgraded.
I want to see the Konami execs bowing for an extended period of time at their next press conference as a display of contrition. Actually, fuck that. They should get down on their fucking knees and beg for forgiveness.
It's one thing to simply release a bad game, but it's far worse to essentially tarnish what little sheen was left on the memory of these classic pinnacles of the genre.
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, people! Konami needs to get the message loud and clear.

Vatra games...why do you suck so bad?
Vatra games...why do you suck so bad?
so even with both consoles it's best to just dig up a ps2 copy if I want to enjoy these for the first time?
Just bought The Terror Engine. Awesommmme
Neat. It's an analysis of SH 1-3, right?
Since I'm getting this in a couple of days, and since this will be my first experience with the franchise, can someone bring me up to speed with what exactly is wrong with this collection?
This is the last straw for Silent Hill.
It's one thing to put out mediocre, new games that don't meet the mark. It's another to re-release fucked up versions of the old games with changed scenes, screwed up graphics and sound, and poor performance.
If you can't recreate the experience 100%, don't fucking touch it.
So, congratulations, Tomm Hulett. You managed to do something that only a spectacular failure could accomplish: get people pissed of at Silent Hill 2. Truly an achievement in ineptitude.
SH2:
* Bad framerate in the PS3 version
* Missing fog effects
* Missing sound effects
* A very specific scene has been edited
* Street textures look far too clean
SH3:
* Missing fog effects
* Washed out colours
* Too bright
* Bad framerate in the PS3 version
* No original VAs
I think that should be it
Hmmm, quite a lot of those sound detrimental to atmosphere, which a horror game needs.
Still, if I interpret your post correctly, they are specific to the PS3 version and not the 360 one, correct?
