I've read you can speed their births up with donuts like other tasks. 30 each time. Could always be wrong though.

You sure can. I now have three spucklers roaming my town.
What happens to my XP now I've hit level 38? If/when they upgrade to 39 will all the XP I'm earning now count towards it?

They really need to figure out how to prevent this.
You can win up to 3 donuts every time you hit the new EX threshold. When Level 39 comes out whatever XP you have earned towards the next donut bonus will count towards level 39 when it comes out.
EG you need 550,000xp to reach the next dounut bonus and you've got 400,000xp when level 39 comes and level 39 only requires 300,000xp to hit, you'll automatically jump to level 39 and have 100,000xp towards the next donut bonus.

I was able to get in yesterday evening and this morning, but it looks like the servers are down again. Boo.

Apparently 2pm-5pm EST is the busiest time and when the servers are hit the hardest. I'm sure today more people are downloading the update. I expect the game to be available again in an hour or two, and hopefully we'll see even less or hopefully zero downtime tomorrow afternoon.

Bought "30 Spins worth of Hearts" and managed to get every item except for the water fountain so I'm nearly done with the wheel!
So happy Shauna was available to buy, started playing this time last year and missed out on her, character collection is finally complete!

I know Shauna was a previous Valentine's character, I'm wondering if everything from past Valentine's is available again? Or is there stuff that has not returned?
I only started playing two months ago, I'm wondering if there are things that will never return, or if all the past holiday items will eventually be up again.

You were able to buy Shauna for donuts last year I think. And for holiday timed event items that are easily unlockable but missed the first time, they usually bring back the following year as a donut purchase item. (Saw some Halloween items like the Church facade and whatnot)

Ya I had that also. Lots of characters about, but couldn't tap on any of them. What decides if a character can receive a valentine or not?
Pretty sure Howards Flowers and Phineas Q Butterfats will be able to purchase near the end of the event. Lincoln is also gonna be available again on Presidents Day.
Finally got every item on the wheel and got the Tunnel of Love, am I basically done with this event now???

I wonder if it's because they aren't active enough? Some of my neighbors who haven't logged in for a while don't have any available characters to tap. I'm guessing there must be a limited amount of valentines a neighbor can receive before they have to come and collect them. =/

If your neighbor doesn't have any valentines to tap on, they either haven't updated their game and completed the first quest to grow rose bushes on the farm, or all of their characters have already been tapped out (heh) and they need to collect the valentines before you can get anything from them.
Just check them again later in the day.

Thats the one annoying thing about this update. I check multiple times throughout the day but no luck. Just gotta keep trying I guess...
Also got 2 of the same item in the wheel spin. Wish it was like the christmas one where it would change out...

Dunno, I haven't advanced too far in the quest lines yet. In past events, other characters would end up with tasks that give out whatever the event resource was after you got through the right event quest.
Oh ok. Would like to get the choo choo choose train before this ends. So far after 4 spins I got 2 of the same items... Was able to perform Milhouse's heart reward task but it requires Lisa as well.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
The first two became available to me as soon as I finished growing my first rose bush.
Homer and Marge can go on a Romantic walk together which gets you 10 hearts. Milhouse can chase Lisa around Springfield which can also get you some hearts.
I managed to get half of the spin wheel done on the first day, Mindy's restaurant isn't finished yet though. A fair bit disappointed with the update so far.

EDIT: plus when someone visits your town to leave valentines they see all the characters doing outdoor tasks so they can be tapped even if they are actually doing indoor stuff in your game.

XD That is so embarrassing! I was tapping and assigning missions so quickly I didn't realize it! And thank you for that info about outdoor tasks, I was wondering about that.
Anytime, I accepted your friend request as well. I'm sure mine Origin is glitched or something, I'm not at the friend request limit but it keeps giving me an error every time I try to add someone new :S
Yeah that's why I don't like this update. A lot of friends I cannot collect hearts from plus can't get the option for just cash or krustyland tickets.

Went ahead and picked up Brandine. Can't wait to have all the spucklers a little less than a year from now, lol. I didn't realize it was a 90 day task. Oh well.

Only a handful of currrent premium characters (whether they used to be free or not) actually have quests right? Is there a list?

The only non-holiday premium characters that don't have jobs are the boardwalk performers, mascots, and some of the animals. I love that Jub-Jub has a job

Yeah I now have 3 trains and have landed on everything but the light post. I've actually landed on the spot on each side of the lamp post at least 3 times each I believe. I hope I can get the last one before the 14th. The servers being down yet again doesn't help.

Looks like there will be a minor President's Day update on the 16th with Lincoln's Cabin returning.
As for me... I'm raining in Gazebos and Fences... but still no pink fountain or Heart Bench
