Sims 2 Farmlife announced

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – July 04, 2005–Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced today that EA's Maxis Studio is developing The Sims 2 Farmlife, the third expansion pack for the highly-acclaimed The Sims 2 PC game. The Sims 2 Farmlife will ship March next year and gives players of The Sims 2 the ability to move your sims out of town to live in a beatifull farm.

Sinjin Bain, Executive Producer and Maxis Vice President, highlights the company's commitment to its loyal following, "Almost everyone who had The Sims Unleashed wanted the same thing. Pets for The Sims 2. But we are giving them more! There are more animals then just cats & dogs. Let your sim get pigs, or cows!You can choose what you want in this new expansion pack. This title is the thirc in a line of expansion packs that will address our players' desires, further develop The Sims 2 franchise and continually expand the world of the Sims creating almost endless gameplay and storytelling possibilities."

In The Sims 2 Farmlife players for the first time will play at a farm. Of course, you don't have to, but you can. You can make your own shop by selling eggs, milk or other stuff. And if you don't want to play at a farm, you can just sell things at home. You don't have to go to work anymore, because you've got you're own work! There are also 5 new careers paths.Players will enjoy all-new farm based wants and fears that are tied to their Sims business life and their pets which will lead to new rewards and powers that will help them achieve their goals and aspirations in your own farm and beyond.

Cows, Horses, Pigs and other animals are added to the game if your Sims live at the farm. Or just take a cat, which is easily to make with CAS! But watch out for evil animals who want teat your food!

The Sims 2 Farmlife will ship under the EA GAMES brand. The Sims 2 is required to play The Sims 2 Farmlife.

I think they could add more story to the sims 2 game, i liked that about the console versions they at least gave you a purpose in addition to the sandbox mode.

Seriously though... I've always liked the idea of simple multiple guided scenarios for sand box games, that basically give the player more bang for their buck, gives the game a broader appeal, as well as been able to showcase some of the games features....

sadly, that idea is while not revolutionary, is completely under utilized.

Even things like the GT series can benefit heavily from it, by creating story based scenarios on top of the standard game (a bit like the driving challenges in GT4), that limit the cars available, the tracks, the upgrades, while giving personality to the opponents (recurring opponents for example), such that you get in the same game the ability to play things out like a initial D story, or play out a season of formula or rally racing, within the bounds of the game.
