Saw Sin City last night, and I was just blown away. The acting was absolutely perfect (for the most part), and I haven't seen a movie that looked that beautiful in a long time. Mickey Rourke was born to play in this, I think. And Benicio was amazing as usual. The makeup was perfect on those guys. Everything just fell into place so well. I bet Frank Miller's the happiest guy right about now.

Someone said something about Spider Man 2 being the epitome of the comic book movie, but on first impression I'd go with this (even though the subject matter's more film noir than comic). One thing I kept thinking of was Max Payne, and how they copped that whole vibe from this series, but how beautiful the material can come off in cinematic form. Wonderful!

love this movie, and as you said Rourke is KING

i could go on and on and on about rourke, it was a role custom fucking designed for his shtick and he comepletey owned it. felt kinda hellboy-ish sometimes, probably because of the heavy makeup. his makeup was too perfect, it gave so much to the performance. i hope this leads to more roles for him.

the music's nice, too. lots of memorable stuff.

i think this worked so perfectly becuase the source material was so strong, and miller was able to keep the exact vision he created.
