Forbidden Siren movie planned

News has emerged that a big screen adaptation of Sony Computer Entertainment's Siren - known as Forbidden Siren over here - is set to hit Japanese cinemas next spring.

The film will be helmed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi, who's directed many hit Japanese TV shows including Psychometer Eiji and Trick, and it's been shot entirely in Japan.

That could become a very good movie if they get the story and atmosphere right. I've always wanted to play Siren since I've played the flash game on the microsite, but what I've heard of the (quality of the) gameplay scares me.

The original is a very tough and unforgiving game, with some unnecessary quirks. But it's also quite rewarding, and the atmosphere is superb (when the characters aren't talking, that is). Looking forward to hearing more about this one.

I bought the first game because it was designed by one of the central masterminds begind Silent Hill 1, but good fucking lord, what a completely unfun, unrewarding game for me. I love the SH games- not because they are 'giggle my nuts into numbness' fun, but because of the stories, atmospheres, and ease of gameplay (tank control jokes aside). SIREN had none of these for me. I appreciated that it had that kind of 'deep atmosphere, independent horror film' type feelings, but I just did not have any enjoyable memories of the game. I also hated how the story was set up- goddamn confusing.

I'll be staying away from the sequel... regardless of this current Silent Hill drought.

well i didnt like the first very much, but i'm all for them trying again. Hopefully they learned some lessons that they'll put into practice in the sequel.

They killed the fun in the first game because it was way too complicated and over-designed. Hopefully they've simplified at least one of the aspects that made the first so irritating and frustrating to play.

I would be happy if you at least didn't have to play through the exact same levels with the exact same characters, just to complete some stupid mission that wasn't available before so that you could open up new areas. Oh yeah, and the VO thing. I want to play this one in the original Japanese, with subtitles thanks very much.

I'll be picking it up, the first was really weird and atmospheric and certainly had some stages that were as scary as hell.

I hope they have better voice actors in the second game. :lol

The first game made me scream like a little girl..

i wish I could say that was a joke too... my first month of living alone in Japan.. and I played Siren 1..and I don't do well with Horror as it is.. there were times I just had to turn the crap off.. I couldn't take it.. :lol

I did love the face acting of the first game. The engine in general, though, was hurting. The new screens are all over the place, some cool lighting technology but some ragged overall looks.
