Six people resign from presidential HIV/AIDS council because Trump 'doesn't care'

Six members of the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS have angrily resigned, saying that President Trump doesn’t care about HIV.

Scott Schoettes, Lucy Bradley-Springer, Gina Brown, Ulysses Burley III, Michelle Ogle and Grissel Granados publicly announced their resignations in a joint letter published in Newsweek titled, “Trump doesn’t care about HIV. We’re outta here.”

The group said that the administration “has no strategy” to address HIV/AIDS, doesn’t consult experts when working on policy and “pushes legislation that will harm people living with HIV and halt or reverse important gains made in the fight against this disease.”

“As advocates for people living with HIV, we have dedicated our lives to combating this disease and no longer feel we can do so effectively within the confines of an advisory body to a president who simply does not care,” they wrote.

The group noted that Trump took down the Office of National AIDS Policy website when he took office and hasn’t appointed anyone to lead the White House Office of National AIDS Policy.

If you live in the States then get out and vote in 2018 and 2020. No excuse.

Mike Pence wouldn't be any better either.

This x10. I live in Indiana and the feeling here is that he was very close to getting voted out. He nearly cost our local businesses in Indy a lot of money (and gencon!) over that shitty RFRA legislation, the STD outbreak in southern Indiana is a direct result of the ineptitude of his ability to govern. The ridiculous school voucher program he spearheaded is costing the state more than it would just to fix the public schooling we already have. Pence would be just as bad, just in different ways.

Every single person who voted for this orange abomination, from out in the country to lurking on this website, is nothing but pure, 100%, grade AAA, no substitutions, SHIT. Fuck TRUMP, and the dimwitted, hateful as fuck, SELFISH, bigoted, soulless, pieces of crap that voted for him.

Get out and vote. It's up to us and the like-minded people around us. I don't know how old you are, but I'm at the front of the "millennials" and our generation is the largest voting block in the United States. It'll be larger during the next election cycle. We can get him and the GOP members that sold themselves to ride Trump's coattails out of office.

It's going to be something else, like in a decade or maybe two, looking back at the damage this man did as president. It will be a cautionary tale told for ages.

You don't say?

Trump, though, found out about Cohn’s AIDS, because people knew, and people talked, and he started pulling legal business from Cohn and transferring it to other attorneys—something he did in the USFL matter in March 1985. Cohn couldn’t believe it. After all he had done for Trump? “Donald pisses ice water,” he said, according to Barrett’s book.

“Donald found out about it and just dropped him like a hot potato,” Bell, Cohn’s secretary, told me. “It was like night and day.”

... “I don’t know how he found out that Roy was HIV positive, and then it was like, boom, gone,” recalled Susan Bell, Cohn’s longtime secretary, in an interview. “Which was kind of shocking because they were friends. But who knows Donald’s motives? I assume he didn’t want to associate himself with somebody tainted.” ...

Given Trump's past behavior re: HIV and the fact that Pence is in the house, this one can possibly be attributed to malice as well as the administration's incompetence.

This applies to pretty much everything they do.

None politician in office, who only cares about his image, he doesn't care for the people, he runs the presidency like it a TV show...the people he hired around him have their own agendas and that doesn't involve the people..

and i thought i couldn't hate Trump more. does he fucking care about ANYTHING? other than trolling, exacting revenge and ego stroking?

what a giant asshole. all of America except hospital workers should go on strike.

My guess is trump is ignorant and stupid enough to think hiv/aids is a thing only gay people and prostitutes get. The only thing from the past 20 years he gets is social media.

well to be fair that's pretty much Trump administration policy on everything.

Crippling the government or saving money that was being wasted? Everyone knows god created aids to kill sinners.

Clearly I'm not serious yet I know there are people out there that think this way.

We voted for him.
I didn't

Even the "good ones" are just enabling the worst of their caucus. The worst you can say about elected conservative Democrats is they're not progressive enough. What does it say about Susan Collins that she willingly caucuses with the same party as Jeff Sessions? Ted Cruz? Donald Trump?

I legit believe that Trump thinks people get AIDS simply because they're not good enough, just like he went after McCain for getting captured in the war.

I am glad people are getting away from the danger notion that he can be influenced by people around him, well influenced by sane people around him. It's just sad people thought it was possible in the first place

We voted for him.
Talk for yourself there bud.

I refuse to call him President, and if there was a visible sign of that I would rock it proudly.

I obviously know it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, until we can vote him out (or he gets impeached, but that won't happen unless we get the House back) but

1- Fuck Trump.

And

2- Fuck the special snow flakes who couldn't bear to vote Clinton because emails and both sides.

Putin is so pleased with how little Trump has done and how quickly America has fallen in world view. Especially since other Republicans are either also on his payroll or don't care because all that matters to them is party/their own power before country.

Is anyone shocked?

Remember when he sat down with Autism experts and awareness advocates?

His first question after the photo-OP was "So, what's going on with 'The Autism'?"

His ignorance and complete lack of knowledge of major health issues is cringe-worthy and disturbing.

EDIT - and of course, he decided later to meet with anti-Vaxxers to throw even more fuel on the fire.

Didn't you all read how he is getting drug prices raised.

Sick and dying people means money.
