Skyfall Theme by Adele

Expected a lot more. Seems just really standard and fairly boring. I've only really liked two Adele songs (Chasing and Rolling), and the rest just seem super droney where she just maintains this same noise like a fucking hornet in a holding pattern.

It's okay. I just don't care much for Adele. I was hoping for a more daring pick for the artist. I will say it is nice to hear a slower, classier theme for once. Hopefully the visuals for the intro are top notch.

"You Know My Name" is fine. I listen to it pretty often, but it isn't up there with the all time classics: Goldfinger, Thunderball, and Live and Let Die (The Greatest!). Props to Living Daylights, View to a Kill, and Diamonds are Forever as well.

For more modern songs I'm a big fan of The World is Not Enough.

The World is Not Enough is painfully underrated as Bond themes go.

This one is so much better than that godawful QoS theme.

A bit slower than I like as far as Bond themes go, but it sounds quite nice. It's good to have her off of the whole broken heart schtick.

For recent Bond themes, You Know My Name for lyfe, yo

Not what I expected it sounds good I always preferred the classic Bond tracks vs. going with the style that’s popular at the moment. I.E. expected WUB WUB Bond track

To be honest, it sounds like what you'd expect a classic Bond theme to sound like. Which is both comforting/plays on my nostalgia and yet also somewhat disappointing.

TL;DR: safe song/artist

I really like it. Need to see the complete version/intro still though.

Also, I would be down for a Tenacious D Bond opening.

They can't please everyone. If it was 'brave', many people would view it as 'shit'.

No doubt, I'm well aware of the balancing act. I just like it when they do something out of left field. Literally NO ONE saw Chris Cornell coming for Casino Royale, and it worked out beautifully.

Saw it before you edited, it's remarkable how much leaving out one 'l' turns a link I'd love to click into unintelligible gibberish

I dunno... I thought that was pretty safe and mediocre. It was a standard Bond song with Bond chords and an orchestra, just with a rock singer and some distorted guitar.

I need to hear the full thing to really judge it but I'm usually not as big of a fan of songs that overly rely on the "Bond Theme" chord progression.

It's solid from the clip but not an all-time classic. Adele's voice fits a Bond theme as you'd expect.

Of course, knowing how these Bond themes go, the edit for the title sequence might be a lot different than what they release as a single.

More info:

Hmmmm.....no full song in the opening titles?

That's pretty standard operating procedure, they usually cut a lot out of the single for the title sequence.

I'm still upset that they didn't use the rock version of You Know My Name I just posted in the film. It's SO much better than the actual version used in the titles, which was unnecessarily orchestrated.

I still remember bringing one of my female friends to see "Casino Royale". After the intro she mentioned to me "it's stupid. they basically injected a music video into the film".

:jnc

I don't like it. I like that they tried to go back to what made the old bond songs good, but this sounds safe and boring.

Wait...his bond hasn't done one?
How odd.

CR has a very non-standard one (in the crapper!) and QoS has one, but its placed at the end of the film to symbolize Bond becoming, well, Bond.

Skyfall will have a traditional one in its traditional place.
