Skyfall Theme by Adele

So skyfall is shaping up to be a pretty great movie eh? Anticipation rising...

Potential means nothing if they don't execute, but yes, the cards are lining up nicely:

- directed by Sam Mendes
- starring Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney and Judy Dench among others
- written by John Logan from an original scriptment from Peter Morgan
- shot by Roger Deakins
- scored by Thomas Newman
- theme song by Adele
- titles sequence by the returning Daniel Kleinman (Casino Royale)
- edited by Stuart Baird (Casino Royale)
- runtime of 145 minutes (making it the longest Bond ever)

Out of all the things youve listed, only the long running time isnt a "potentially good thing" by default. But the rest looks pretty promising i must admit.

I like it, so I'm biased. But I find your enjoyment is inversely proportional to how long after you previously saw Casino Royale that you watch QoS. Seriously, watch them as a double feature and it is pretty good. Casino Royale 1.5.
I completely agree. I didn't particularly like QoS the first time I watched it but I did a double feature with Casino Royale when I got the Blu-ray collection last week and it was much better.

I loved Jack White/Alicia Keys on Quantum really, and that's not a very popular opinion apparently. So catchy.
I like the song better without Jack White.

I just hope the title sequence is good to go with the song, Casino Royale's titles and music were pretty fantastic but QoS was to me pretty damn meh and a real let down after CR.

Here's hoping they pull it off.

Minute later edit:
Just read some more of the topic and the guy behind Casino Royale's titles is back for this one? simply put, excellent news.

I listed the runtime because so many here are down on QoS, which was the shortest Bond film.

What was wrong with QoS? I enjoyed it much more than CR.

Da fuq? The worst action scenes since Live and Let Die (ugh, that editing and shakey cam is un-fucking-bearable) and some of the lamest villains in the entire series. Only redeeming factor was Bond himself.

Casino Royale was nearly perfect other than some odd pacing towards the end.

I already like this song more than both her albums. Probably because I still have a weak spot for Bond tunes. Oh, and because it (probably) doesn't contain whining about some lost boyfriend.

It remains the only James Bond film I haven't seen. Am I to assume you found it excellent, dear Solo?

Yes, I love it. Best representation yet of the literary character on film. The self-loathing, the self-medicating, the bitterness - that is Ian Fleming's Bond. Yes, the action is incredibly poorly edited, but that doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the movie overall to any great amount.

Talking about bond theme songs ... did you guys ever heard the rejected ones ?

Man with the Golden Gun - Alice Cooper
Thunderball - Johnny Cash
The Living Daylights Theme - Pet Shop Boys
For your Eyes Only - Blondie

Really cool stuff

Lana Del Rey should have gotten the theme tbh

No way !
First thing to come to my mind when I heard an Adele song was "She needs to do a bond theme"

Nice song, but I'm more curious about the "graphic style" of the intro, if you know what I mean. Again, Casino Royale had the best one imho :)

The same director from Casino Royale's opening .... but at the same time, it is the same director from Quantum of Solace's opening =P

The Ace of Base one for "GoldenEye" is pretty awesome, too. Too bad their studio fucked them on that, but the song eventually became The Juvenile and a hit for them regardless.

Nice. It works because it's no bombastic and totally over the top unlike the two previous Bond themes.

Ironically it seems to reflect the nature of the film itself compared to the first two Daniel Craig films.

Decent song by itself, but perfect when paired with a typical Bond opening. Psychedelic and abstract visuals with this song will be classic Bond.

I think it sounds absolutely fantastic.

Everything is lined up for this to be one of the best movies of the year, if not one of the best Bonds ever.

After Prometheus and TDKR I don't think I could take this not living up to my expectations.

Ominous lyrics being sung by a powerful vocalist. Rarely, if ever, is this a bad recipe. Best bond theme since YOLT by Nancy Sinatra. The Queen lives.

Pretty boring if you ask me. Very safe and obviously trying to be a throwback.

I'll agree with whoever said The World Is Not Enough is underrated. It's a fantastic song.

Top 10 Bond movie opening tracks

I am sure Adele will crack my top ten once I hear it in full

These are songs with lyrics (Dr No and OHMSS are legendary in their own right)

10 - The Man with the Golden Gun
9 - The Living Daylights
8 - Goldeneye
7 - You Only Live Twice
6 - Casino Royale
5 - Thunderball
4 - Diamonds are Forever
3 - A View to a Kill
2 - Live and Let Die
1 - Goldfinger

The best Bond theme is OHMSS. Lyrics? We don't need no stinking lyrics. Just several minutes of John-Barry-On-God-Mode audio perfection.
