Wait, are the day/night cycles for EVERY stage, or just Battlefield?

Different stages undergo different changes.

Battlefield changes for day to night than to day again, and Yoshi's Island goes through different seasons.

So the Yoshi's Story music will be played on this stage, correct?

I loved the style of the stage back then when the nintendo world trailer was released. It definately looks even better in motion!

Wario's ****ing screwed.
Wrong! Mario is doing his uppercut into link!

Wait a second.

Do the Battlefield and Yoshi's Island day/season changes have to do with wii's internal clock?

If so that'd be awesome. It'd be so cool for a stage to change four times a year.

It changes during the battle...

The upper platform tilts, huh?

Woot, a way to measure relative weights among characters in Brawl :D

I think it simply changes at time intervals during matches. Waiting months for a stage to change appearance wouldn't be too appealing as a whole to the players.

I don't think so. If this would be true, then you should wait the winter season to see the stage change and this has no sense.

Either the internal clock but it almost might take the weather from the Forecast Channel?

I love how Raphael the Raven's moon is in this pic. I guess maybe it goes through day/night changes in addition to the seasonal changes.

I love this stage.

Can't wait to hear the music for it.
Yoshi's Island's music was leagues better than Yoshi's Story.

I think we already have - the Yoshi Story ending music was released the other day. I think it will likely be for this stage.

Why would Yoshi's Island have Yoshi's Story music?

One track that I would LOVE to see in the game would be Super Mario Bros. 3's ending theme. Probably my favorite ending theme in all Mario games. (with SMW's ending theme being a close second)

looks like a typical stage, nothing exciting, kinda bland while seasonal variations keep it varied.. not bad update.

Well, although I love the super-cool, huge, fast-paced arenas, the game does need some smaller, more casual ones. This one looks great as one of those quick-match small platforms, I love the hand-drawn look from Yoshi's Island. Suprisingly enough, the characters fit into the level perfectly even with clashing styles.

The pastel stage of Yoshi’s Island...
Mmm... It feels nice and peaceful here.

The central platform tilts to and fro.

Happy clouds :)

Interesting stage, sugar sweet backdrops to violence, do want.

Can anyone say with any certainty whether the stage "seasons" will change according to the system clock ala Animal Crossing?

That would be cool.

Personally I doubt it - I think it'll just be a set time limit for each season before it changes to the next one.

Ah Yoshi's Island, just as I predicted.

It is cool to see that even the simple stages have lots going on.

Although its not confirmed, its most likely that the main feature of this stage would be the seasonal changes, so I wouldn't expect them to change via the system clock.

Finally, a Yoshi's Island stage in the Yoshi's Island style, none of that Yoshi's Story or Super Mario World stuff. Love it. :D Maybe they felt empowered to bring it back because of the DS sequel. That'd be enough to make me forget about and forgive the horrid soundtrack of YIDS for a mo--

...Oh, man. Now I'm going to have nightmares or something that they'll use the Yoshi's Island DS music in Smash. :|

And Chain Chomp is in the background here.

COME ON, SAKURAI. WE NEED FUZZIES.

Yeah, fuzzies should be a hazzard. If you touch one, your character becomes dizzy and harder to control. If you use a wiimote in your control set up, distorted music plays from the speaker :D

The highlight of this stage is its seasonal changes, as it goes from spring to summer to fall and then winter.
.

We saw this stage in the last trailer, but I'm glad to see the beautiful, beautiful screenshots anyway. :)

(And yes, I do remember the chalk outlines around everything being fully animated too.)

Support Ghost and Chain Chomp make me very happy!

2D stage and background has we pleading for WW Link in this game.

Looks really nice and it is rather contrasting seeing 3D lifelike characters in a 2D cartoony world.

Welp, looks like another fairly generic stage, design-wise. I'm really uninterested by this one, even though the season changes sound kinda neat.

Show us Snake's stage!

Nice catch! I rewatched the Nintendo World trailer and it does change angles as you fight. Although in the video it doesn't seem to tilt with the weight of the characters. Maybe in the final game it will.

Also in the trailer, right at the beginning, Marios Air Forward A Attack makes Pikachu (standing on a platform) fly backwards. Please don't do that to his move! Mario has the coolest looking Spike in the game.
