SMT III's final dungeon suuuuuucks (spoilers?)

The encounter rate in here is ridiculous and almost every fight has more than one "wave" of enemies ... not to mention that auto-battle isn't generally an option because of all the various resistances and immunities these monsters have. I mean, I can plow through them just fine, but it's so tedious. How many floors does this damn thing? I'm not even sure I want to finish it... :(

I havent played it, but I know how you feel. I gave up on Skies of Arcadia on the DC because of the frequency of battles. It just got to the point where it was ridiculous.

I'm near the end of the game (not up to the final dungeon yet) and i can definitely imagine the random battles getting crazy in the last dungeon. You could try using estoma if one of your demons has it, but it think it might only repel demons that are way lower level than you... If that doesn't work i guess you'll just have to endure it- i know it's gonna be annoying as hell but i'm really determined to finish the game so i'm prepared to sit through it.

You can cast a spell Estoma to reduce the enemy encounters. The spell last for one Katsuguchi phase. Some of the monsters have it as the first 2~3 skills, so you can go to the Manor to fuse or summon using money.

I bought the "dungeon monster" in the first Kalpa, and i've used his "repel" skill to keep the encounter rate down.

:D

I'm experiencing similar problems, but much earlier in the game. Less encounters sounds good to me, but aren't you fucked when you reach the bosses then? Right now I have to fight endless waves of tedious monsters just to get to level 18 so I can fuse some stuff that will beat the next boss for me. Actually, that's where I left the game 3 weeks ago. I'm wary of picking it up again, no matter how much I like the design and story.

eh, not really. you definitely can't "power" through bosses, but you shouldn't have too much trouble as long as you exploit their weaknesses.

That's exactly how I like an RPG to play out, but at this point my party is too pathetic to even work the next boss's weaknesses. He simply wipes out the entire party in 1-2 rounds. Hence the tedious need for leveling up.

OK, this hasn't turned out to be so bad after all, especially with Estoma. The monsters in the later floors actually seem easier to hack through than the ones on the early floors (if only because they aren't casting Tetrakarn non-stop). I withdraw my criticism!
